Not before time IMO is being trialled in tonight's friendly at Wembley between England and West Germany. Four distinct areas re- goals, penalty decisions, mistaken identity and red cards will be available to the referee on a monitor at the side of the pitch. Looks like if successful, it could eventually rolled out in the Premiership before being used in the lower leagues.
I don't get why so many football fans seem so conservative. It works great in other sports (cricket, field hockey, american football), so why wouldn't it work for football? As if dodgy desicions are "charming". I've only heard people be positive about referee's mistakes when they want to push back innovations. Any other time people are always complaining about the quality of refereeing. So why not try and do something about it?
Care to explain why you think that? Surely a referee having the option to get a call correct can never be a bad thing.. It's great to see the sport finally getting dragged into the 21st Century
Problem is it will have teething issues and everyone will slate it until it settles down, it works so well in cricket now it’s great.
