If Mowatt worked into goal scoring positions like Hourihane used to do and unleashed his left foot more. He'd be talked about more in the same breath. I've been really impressed with the lad. As for Hourihane it's harsh what some are posting about him. However, when you play for such a massive club everyone's a pundit.
Just imagine how many more goals and assists he would have had in those 96 games if they'd actually let him take more set pieces. Crazy how someone so skilled with a dead ball is often an afterthought and not the regular free kick and corner taker.
When Conor was with us, he was a "leader" amongst a group of "followers" who in all probability looked up to him. ? At Villa, he is playing alongside some big names with transfer tags to match re- £8 to £ 20 million and is therefore not as prominent as he was when he was with us. Have it on good authority ,that as far as a lot of Villa fans are concerned, he is not the most popular of players and unfortunately has been booed, which will do absolutely nothing for his confidence. There's no denying ,he's on a better salary at Villa Park, but maybe not enjoying his football like he did, when he was King bee at Oakwell. If we could afford his wages, I'd have him back in a heartbeat.
We can afford his wages. It would break the wage structure and wouldn't work with FFP. Sick of all this can't afford this. Can't afford that. The club is owned by a consortium of billionaires. The fact is its a case of wont rather than cant. Im not for one minute complaining. I like the way they are playing it. However, trying to make out as a club its skint gets on my wick.
