According to Steve Bruce in his press conference this morning. No mention of what they've offered but they are waiting to hear back from us today which might take a while since we've sacked the guy who answers the phone! :)

They have also pretty much completed the deal for Henry Landsbury

Let's see what today brings then...

Why would they want both Landsbury and Hourihane?

Because they're a typical club with money at this level. Buy every good player in this league, even if they don't fit into their formation.

Wednesday are doing the same with strikers. The must have about five top quality strikers now and are still after Jordan Rhodes.

With the exception of Mile Jedinak, their midfield is pretty poor.

    'We're led to believe'?

Sounds as though Hourihane's agent is pushing the deal through then.

It's what clubs with money do when they're top half of the table. Weaken the threats from teams below them thus enhancing their own chances of finishing in the playoffs. Why do you think Sheff Weds bought Winnall?

Much cheaper and less riskier than buying a £10m+ premiership player who'd want £80K+ a week.

Craig Hignett was a good example going to Blackburn under Souness. £2.25m and ended up making twenty starts and 33 sub appearances.

You can still get 40/1 for us to be relegated. If Conor goes by the end of the day you can expect that price to halve.

I remember Souness saying at the time not that he had bought himself a good player but that he had taken at least 20 goals a season off Barnsley. We did reasonably well out of their treasure chest, with another £4.5 million coming in for Ashley Ward. Two great players for us who only played together in that 7-1 thrashing of Huddersfield, yet they went to Blackburn and became bit part players.

Who knows where that team might have taken us if we had only been able to turn down the money and keep the players.

    Nothing much changes does it?

You can expect our fans to be lumping bets in it as well.

Can't believe how much of a joke we've been this transfer window.

Thats not what he said. He said they are waiting to hear back from Barnsely.
So even if we accept their offer - he still has to agree terms etc and he may not even want to go there. He was definitely going to the Fowls last week if I remember correctly
I doubt anything will be announced today even if he eventually goes there

I got 66s the other day.

Worth a small punt based on the way things are going at the moment. Could all change, or not happen, but wouldn't bet on that!

I will be surprised if Conor leaves, as I have a feeling that we have his commitment until the summer and I do think that he values what this club has done for him, as well as his role as captain at what is a very difficult time for us in terms of governance. I will be less surprised if Roberts goes, especially if it is to Burnley and premiership status and wages. I would think that we would be willing to let Bree go to WBA, if they actually do make the sort of bid touted. What concerns me is having, or rather not having suitable ready-made replacements lined up. Aaron Pierre, or the defender from Peterborough. We need those deals to be tied up before any of the others leave. Incidentally, I would sign Cameron McGeehan from Luton Town, even though he will be out for a good while with his broken leg. We might get a better deal in the circumstances. Mind you, it is only me saying that we interested at all, so perhaps we aren't. Good ultimate replacement for Conor for next season though.

Think best case scenario we can hope for his that they either sign him now pre-contract and he stays till end of season, or he signs and loans back. Can't see either happening tho as they'll want to get back to Premier League this season.

    ********. Least it isn't Wednesday
