LoL - All the IT jobs were shipped out years ago - and it had a dramatic effect on salaries and work in IT for British graduates for years, and the Government are now stopping qualified Indian doctors filling actual gaps in the NHS? You seriously couldn't make this sh*t up.

Its not quite as straight forward as that though is it?

Part of the requirement is that they only grant visas to Drs who are qualified in certain specialities which are in demand.

For example Stroke or cancer Drs.

Doesnt help that there is a big issue with some of these Drs actual qualifications...

Can you think of any specialisms which are over-subscribed?

    Absolutely bonkers ,
Reminds me of the old Chinese tale about rice fields not producing enough rice so one village decided they would kill or scare away all the birds as they were blamed for eating the rice seeds
Next years crops were almost down to nothing, the villagers realised that the birds were actually eating the parasite insects that were eating the rice and with no predators the rice crops were depleted and the villagers died .

It's not a shortage of Drs. Its a shortage of training and education. Still. After decades of need.

There are 20+ eminently suitable and educated applicants for each place at some medical schools.
