Because I didn’t realise what they are like until I moved here and witnessed what I did during the last World Cup. Btw. What a stupid ******* question.
I have lived in Wales longer than in Tarn now, and certainly don't find the locals anti-English. As it happens I have also lived in Trinidad. So I have rather mixed feelings about tonight. Hedges rather swings it in favour of Wales.
me too.... lived here 25 years... its not as bad as it seems on the anti English front have had the anti English in both Scotland (lived there almost 15 years) and in Wales but the kind that do so have the intelligence of a retarded slug. Many in England are also like it too, just look at Miwaww , Birmingham and the Dee Dahs.
Of course not all but there’s a sizeable amount. I witnessed it all over my Facebook account from many that I would call decent people last year. Was an eye opener. Ps. I didn’t say it was all the time. Just i wouldn’t be too unhappy to see them do badly as they weren’t when we did ok in the World Cup..
I watched Wales play at the Racecourse in the mid-90s. There was a great atmosphere, but it was almost as much anti-South Wales as it was anti-English.
I think you might find that throughout history, money (and water) has flowed from Wales to England more than the other way around. I would not blame the Welsh for not being our biggest fans. In exactly the same way the coal wealth of Barnsley moved south. And we just love those southerners. Still many people mix up being pro-Welsh with being anti-English. They are not the same thing.
I find in 99% of cases when I travel round the country people from both Wales & Scotland are very friendly & welcoming. A stark contrast to people in the South East on the whole. There are many ties between Welsh mining towns & Yorkshire. Some people might not feel the same, but I'd cheer on any of the home countries, if they are not playing England. (I did support the Republic when Big Mick was manager also).
