First things first, this isn't a dig at the guy at all. He seems an all round top bloke and a fantastic ambassador for the club, I also think he a pretty decent footballer.

However, was giving him the armband so early a mistake? He's still a young lad and has made a big step up from his previous club. I do wonder if giving him this extra responsibility has added a bit of needless pressure.

Would it be an idea to say to Gus, 'we maybe gave you this a bit early - just concentrate on your football' and hand the captaincy to Davies or Hammill?

I would like to see hammill as captain now he is a regular starter again and I'm sure he would love the role too. i thinik it was a step too far for gus who i really like also but think he may now struggle to get back in the team in front of Lindsay and Jackson. We shall see though.

Well Mawson was made captain and Jonno took it off him before the first leaves dropped.

Davis seems to be enjoying the captains role was shouting instructions regularly today,2 games 1 win , 1 draw not a bad start for him :)

Maybe, we'll see between now and Christmas but of course most fans won't give the players that long before they get booed. Look at Potts, fickle lovely people

Hamill for me should be club captain (not team captain) he is an amazing ambassador for Barnsley. But to me, he isn't team captain material. Too mardy.....

I think Gus needs time, but if it doesn't suit him, I'd go for Davies or possibly one of the new lads.. Lyndsay, Pearson or McCarthy?
Lyndsay has impressed me so far. As has McCarthy ... pearson is a little hot headed though.
