Worth what though? Maybe we can't afford to pay what other clubs think they're worth. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Thanks Gordon - mine was meant to be. He was/is a good solid performer at this level but I wouldn't expect him to go higher. Would be surprised if he makes it into the Wales team
What exactly are they worth though, does this all come down to Hecky or the Chairman ? Hindsight is easy and we can look back now and say we made a mistake in letting George Williams go, im just hoping we havent made the same mistake here with Scowen as he was only asking for a 'slight' raise wasnt he.
You may be correct we may go out and spend 10 to 20 million quid. You may be right I may be wrong we will see. And we may of course find 10 bob down the sofa to pay their wages. Mr Cryne has already said we won't be going outside our spending structure. Unless of course you have been speaking to him privately. Sent from my iPad using Barnsley FC BBS Fan Forum mobile app
How hard have the club tried to keep them? A batch of unproven replacements will keep the wage bill at a level the club are happier with.
I don't know mate. Does anyone other than the club and players in question? Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
A few things 1. he could have acted like a knobhead and tried to force the move anyway but he didn't he got his head down and got on with it. 2. when played up front he is far better than a 1 in 6 player, the stats show this. 3. perhaps the manager not playing him in his preferred position and constantly dropping him in favour of adam lazy **** armstrong. 4. he stated his ambition to play in the premier league and that he had no intention to leave us in january because we were in contention for a play-off place. Our corner shop mentality of '20th is good enough' in january and since then will have played a big part in his decision to leave because our lack of ambition has certainly taken away that play-off opportunity and the noises coming out of the club very much suggest that we are shopping in aldi again. 5. since hourihane left was he not our top scorer despite playing the majority of games in midfield?
Why would you think I would be speaking to him privately ?, bizarre comment. I believe we spent a couple of million over the season on various players this last year & I know that in todays championship that is peanuts, however, I hope we would have a similar budget this season if not bigger.
Last season we had to recruit 2/3 first team players and loans this year we need to recruit 9/10. If we have the same budget. It will get spread very thinly. I would expect it will be the same. The problem is we now have to sign a full team with it. Sent from my iPad using Barnsley FC BBS Fan Forum mobile app
We've probably offered them what we can afford. We can't afford to match wages that other teams can & have probably tapped them up with. Sent from my iPhone using Barnsley FC BBS Fan Forum mobile app
How many more times does this need to be repeated? We will sign players but we won't be spending the transfer income in any big way
