I'm surprised anyone wants to pay money for any of their players other than their keeper.

Their outfield play last year (once Maja went, and McGeady aside) couldn't have been much slower and pedestrian if they'd played with 10 Steve Bruces.

I find it hugely amusing though. An injury time loss in the play off final. Losing on penalties. Preparing for life after parachute payments. Fans still bitter and deluded. Only thing that would make it funnier is if they got relegated this year.

    Cherry, icing, delightful.

I'd take Honeyman for that money. Good squad player with a bit of experience.

" “That was worth £41.5million last season, it is worth £30million for this season and then £14.5million for 2019/20,” he said.

“The club did manage to cut the wage bill by 45 per cent, from £84million to £47million, but they still had other running costs of about £20million. "

Crazy finances for league 1. Doesn't look good for them if they don't get out of that league this time.

If their wage bill last year was £17m more than their parachute payment and their other costs are £20m they must be likely to breach FFP this year or next, aren’t they? Even if they get promotion?

Just talking aloud here... but are they under an embargo already? I thought SCMP was much harsher than FFP and is monitored fairly regularly? Isn't it something like 60% of income can be spent on wages, but there are allowances for long contracts if relegated and youth players? With those costs they must have gone over that. They don't seem to have signed anyone, not that they are on my radar being in league 1.

But then you have to wonder how on earth Bury got into the mess they did if their accounts were being closely monitored.
