What did he say
Basically, get some money spent, dont stick to this spreadsheet plan rigidly, get a manager in who'll keep us up, mentioning mick mcarthy, and push on next season. Also said if we started being successful, then oakwell would be filled, i agree with him.
Like every so called smaller club that have reached the premier league in the last ten years.
It's always easy to spend someone else's money...
If the current owners want to be successful in the english football leagues then thats exactly what they need to do, spend some money.
What can they spend money on to keep us up? Windows shut.
Huddersfield? Burnley 1st time?
decent experienced manager who knows this league, thats our no1 priority.
Erm, i think they both spent a fair few million to achieve promotion tbf
Huddersfields biggest spend was that defender for 1.6 million the previous Windows they had sold their stars coady, smithies ect sound familiar?
Burnley were and are still a well run club the top earner Hendricks only on 35k which is peanuts in premiership standards.
Not seen any better suggestions than my original thought of Clough yet in terms of experience in this division, working with a small budget, respected in the game... Ticks all the boxes. Think he plays to the style of players at the club, you only have to see how he sets the Burton side up for that. We player far better on the attack, not playing the long ball so I reckon he would see that hoof it horrible style of footy would be bad.
Remember when we signed Frimpong, he was sat next to us in their hospitality seating when we played Donny. Was asked would you have signed him, he laughed and said NO.. Seemed a decent bloke from first impressions.
Nigel Clough wouldn't be the worst choice. Rather have him than the likes of Cowley, McCann or Robinson who are still trying to make a name for themselves.
Nigel has a PROPER big name already
I would take clough too, he's always been one for a long term plan and is definitely a coacher of players, I love big Mick especially his interviews but he's from tarn and smacks of sentimentalism and eventually we'd end up hating him like all our other heroes and we have very few left already. Cowleys I'll be honest have not followed all there work but doesn't sound like they're interested and if they reject us will look a bit ****. Grayson would be good for 6 months but he wouldn't take a 6 month contract here to keep us up and I'm sceptical about the long term with him. Monk no.
If the new owners want any kind of success in English football, they have to play the game. And sadly, that means throwing quite a bit of money around...
Or in other words - ****, or get off the pot.
