...for Tom Bradshaw than Sam Winnall. Both in the last 12 months of their contract. I assume we've got players lined up and it's a decent deal. Can't see why there's umbrage. These aren't idiots. I doubt they've been dipping into their pockets this Summer - the sales of Mawson/Knasmuller/Pearson etc will have gone some way to offset the loss of revenue post relegation but there's probably still a hole which needs to be filled. TB will be a top earner & saleable asset - we've taken that up. I liked him, he's a great player at this level & wish him well. Simple as.
Big fan of the word "umbrage". If we have someone lined up I have no problem with the deal. Just hope Stendel doesn't mind too.
That’s the main factor into this. If we’ve got players lined up and ready to come to the club before the end of August then fair enough we’ve moved a player on that doesn’t want to be here and replaced him adequately. If he isn’t replaced and we are left with Moore and two lads who played with the under 23s as our strikers for 5 month then it’s a risky self inflicted corner we’ll have painted ourselves into
My worry also. People seem to think its nailed on we got sumday lined up. But weve got previous ere...
TBF, it's been risky since we started the season with just Moore & Bradshaw. VA looks a prospect but untried. We need 2 IMHO but we'll see.
Nobody knows that It really isn’t a good deal though. Less than a year left or not, what do you think MacAnthony would have got if he was leaving Peterborough? More than £1million. Plenty more. Because we were told nobody would be sold and after a really great performance we look to be letting one of the integral members of the team go - for money which in the grand scale of things is dwarfed by the rewards of getting back into the championship?
We never replaced Brian Joicey Or Trevor Aylott Or Ashley Ward Or Neil Shipperley......... The list is long but, in truth, we DID replace them even if it took a while. Players come, players go. I don't get this constant criticism of the club from some on here. If Bradshaw wants to go then he has to go. That team that I saw last night had real spirit. We don't want a grumpy number nine undermining that.
Why on earth does it matter what that muppet would do, he doesn't own us. For all his ability to get good money for strikers they've not been in the championship in 5 years and not had a promotion in 7.
Even with Bradshaw on the books we are a striker short. If he wants to go I am not keen on keeping a player against his will but it's to be hoped that some bulky, hard-running German lad comes in and carries on where Bradshaw left off.
Who says he’s grumpy, he may well just get his head down, play well and get a lucrative signing on fee in the summer as a free agent
So we should be happy to accept a lot less money than other clubs would get for the same assets? He is an absolute arse that is true and I’m not suggesting the club be ran how he runs Peterborough, but we shouldn’t be bent over a barrel on transfers in the name of being nice. All I was doing was responding to dyson’s assertion that it’s a good deal. I don’t agree with that. If the money was perhaps twice the suggested figure I’d still think it was a questionable sale but at least one of financial merit given he’s in his last year.
The transfer market has changed dramatically in the short space of time since Sam left us though thanks to Neymar and co. It’s not really comparable which is kinda crazy. I get that players move on from us, you get used to it, but £1 million for a striker that has scored goals at championship level and regularly gets into the Wales national squads is poor in my opinion. I’m eager to see who will come in to replace him because I thought we needed a striker before Bradshaw leaving so realistically there should be 2 loan strikers coming in now.
He isn't either the owner of Tom Bradshaw or the club signing him so in the situation it doesn't matter at all. We've signed players that they've been after numerous times, it doesn't matter how much he sells the players he gets because generally they go to clubs well above our price bracket and as I've said he consistently fails to use to build a team of sufficient quality to even get in the play offs. Same assets? No football club ever has the same assets, every player is different in strenghts, weaknesses, age, contract situation, career history and personal life, so you can't say that we have the same assets as other clubs. Is £1 million a good fee in the current market, no it isn't, do we know the complete ins and outs of the deal, no we don't, are you correct to be worried that our previous of not recruiting sufficiently when losing a player, yes, does it matter what Darragh MacAnthony would do at Peterborough, not in a million years.
