Never mind the fact that he bundled it in from close range. Just have a look at his movement as soon as Adam Hammill got the ball. He covered a lot of ground with long strides to get on the end of a great cross. Put it on slow motion and just watch it. His fitness looks spot on if he can run like that and he just made it his when the ball arrived.

In an overcrowded midfield group I would say he is going to take some shifting. He's big, he's powerful and he's fast. And now he's got a goal. Plenty more to come I hope.

Hecky has seen something in him that others haven't

    Let's see if he's right

    He probably is

In all fairness, yes I/we have had a go at Potts and we couldnt understand why he was being played at the time when we was, and where he was.. because he simply wasnt good enough. Its got sod all to do with us being 'dummies'.
Whats wrong with that, commenting on a players awful performance ?.

It's fantastic that he's scored. I gave him criticism his first few games because he looked way out of his depth. But against Sunderland he was much better, and today he scored. Haven't watched the match but hopefully he was as good or better than Sunderland.

I want the lad to be brilliant. And it sounds like now he's finding his feet he's improving weekly.

I trust Hecky. I questioned why he started today over Moncur, who for me has been great last couple of games, and then he scores. It's why Hecky is a football manager and I'm just a schmuck watching football for fun.

Hope he goes from strength to strength. If any manager will get the best out of him it's Hecky

Players have good games and bad games. We're all entitled to comment. To write a young player off as useless after a couple of games at a new club and level is ridiculous, however. Potts may not make the grade in the long run. Who knows? But he should be given a decent chance before getting ripped to bits just like any other new starter.
The only player I've successfully predicted would be utterly dire on the strength of a couple of games was Odejayi and, let's be fair, you didn't need to be a football expert or have a crystal ball to figure that one out!

And yet he still appeared 72 times for us.

    What golden days they were.

I think I might have to put my hand up and say I was wrong about Potts and maybe Hecky knows better than me.

Potts had a great game against us back in January, he was Blackpool's outstanding player IMHO.

I thought he looked sluggish and not arsed in the couple of games I saw him in before today (not Sunderland I might add), but he worked hard yesterday and looked fairly solid in the middle. Did well to get his goal too as noted by the OP. Hopefully he'll continue to improve.

In my opinion, with these new players, I won't be judgemental until November. They have to get up to the higher standard of both fitness and play in the Championship, so cur 'em some slack.

I prefer to make a snap judgement on any new player, if they don't make a instant impact then they're crap or gerrhimoffheckyhesrubbish as it's become known, I don't allow any bedding in time. also I like to have a hate figure, I just haven't decided who it's going to be yet, it might just have come down to a game of eeny meeny miny mo.

It's what we have lacked in the past. Someone busting a gut to get into the box.

I know what you mean but it looked effortless. As I said above, put it on slow motion and he just takes great long strides to time his run to perfection. He was there just as the ball arrived. Maybe he got a bit of luck but it was still a lovely goal
