https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-52358036 how is this happening ? Beaurocracy it would seem.
tbh I've thought for years that a lot of civil servants need a good kick up the arse and bringing into this century!
Wife was head of procurement at Sheffield council, and she says dealing with the NHS was a nightmare as there is no central depot for all NHS equipment and that each trust buys their own equipment and they would all pay a different price. She says it was unbelievable each and every trust paying different prices for the gear.
bet they aren't, too much looking after number one , as confirmed by a friend who worked in central government offices
Massive beaurocacy...my brother is an IT project manager....his company had a 2 year contract with the department of justice at Westminster (only 3 years ago). He told me that on avarage day he would attend 15 meetings, just for the most basic of stuff (buying hardware, implementing plans etc), this had to go through about 5 different buyers (within the DOJ ) before they received the nod. I think he said the original project cost (the tax payer) around £750 million and this would save £100 million per year. Due to the inefficiency however the job was 3 to 4 times over budget and a year behind schedule. He used to scream at the sheer nonsence of red tape to get the simplist of tasks done.
