I'm not talking about this joke of a board that we have at present but in general when will fans be happy? Will Liverpool fans turn on Klopp if they don't win the Premiership or will they have just enjoyed a great season of exciting football? Do Arsenal fans deserve better if so why? If Man City don't win the champions league is it time for Pep to move on? If Barnsley struggle in the championship should we turn on our players and club? I don't quite get what do we deserve as supporters other than players trying, coaches improving our players and the club spending within our means and making sensible decisions? Serious question in general and not directed at our current position.
When we sell players only when necessary to keep the club's finances in order, not as an integral part of the club's strategy. Oh, and when we win a few games.
I believe, and I’m confident I speak for the vast majority of Barnsley fans, in that we are more than happy to be just competitive at this level. Anything beyond that is a welcome bonus
Agree little owd Barnsley against the loadsamoney/loadsadebt clubs with haif a chance of toppling some of em. Love it, better than waiting like some for next season to start.
Absolutely Tarntyke. What exactly were people's expectations? Surely not winning the league. But the sale of valuable players and not adequately replacing them is a huge concern to all supporters. Ending the league 4th bottom must now be our aim. It is still possible so COYR. Let's do this.
I agree with that but when we are at that stage do we then moan for not challenging top 6 and so on until we've won the champions league. Are most Premiership clubs fans just happy to be in the Premier league or does it get to a stage where that's not just good enough ie West Ham. Look at Ipswich supporters under Big Mick staying in the championship wasn't good enough for them.
Moaning sometimes improve things, Moaning is not always recognised by the one doing the moaning, we as Tarn fans are used to moaning and are quite good at it. Moaning is enjoyable and takes away the stress unlike anger.
Apart from Leeds and West Brom the league is pretty average. That's the most frustrating thing, 3-4 decent players who have good experience at this level would see us mid-table . Anything can happen in football but owt above relegation should be the minimum .
I'd be happy just to be competitive at Championship level, but it's nowhere near a level playing field so that's not gonna happen any time soon. Following Barnsley in the late 70s, 80s and 90s was really enjoyable, but now this level is a constant struggle and League One is a big drop in quality.
The young fans will want to see us in the Premier League and rightly so, so a good percentage of their BFC life will be spent moaning thats if they stick with the club.
Pretty much this, from what I’ve seen of this league so far, I think keeping last season’s promotion squad alone would’ve easily held their own. I know that was never going to happen, but we would've been just fine if it had.
All football fans dream. When we sell off players as soon as we have begun to realise their talent and without adequate planning for appropriate replacements the dream is squashed. It leaves us paying for the privilege of watching our club operated as a nursery club for the rest of the Championship or occasionally above.
Agree with Tarntyke. I want to go to home games believing we can win. Not expecting us to win, but believing we can, whoever it is in this division we're facing. But I don't.
I disagree. I don't think the squad was good enough and we needed to strengthen. Instead they weakened the squad.
You're right I won't be happy until we've won the champions league. I bet you were happy last season though ?
I'd be happy if I thought the board and fans had a common goal of trying to establish the club in the championship by strengthening the side that won promotion. Happy if I did not feel uneasy at every transfer window feeling that any of our players will be sold if anything like a bid comes in (we could learn alot from Peterborough on player valuation. )Happier if the 'plan' was more flexible and selling any player despite the fact it may weaken an already weak and inexperienced side. Happy if the promotion winning head coach had not been sacked when he aired his vows and that of many of the fans. Happy if we were told was was going off behind the scenes to take the club forward.
When i leave Oakwell, satisfied with what i've seen, then ill be HAPPY, i'm going back to work in January and wont be back for two yrs so i'm hoping there'll be many HAPPY times for the rest of you.
