If "we" deserve to be relegated, as I often hear or read, then who precisely are "we"? Speaking as a totally committed fan for a number of decades, I do not think that I deserve to be relegated, and I am sure that there are thousand of others who think that they too are undeserving of such a fate. So, is it the owners who deserve to go down, or is it just some of the owners, or the head coach and his assistants, or Gauthier Ganaye, or the players, or is it the whole lot of them? Is it every single person who is actively involved with the club? All of them? Surely we cannot include the tea lady and the turnstile operators too? If it is mainly players who are responsible for relegation, then which players can we say deserve to go down? Is it all of them, without exception? Is it the players' fault if they have insufficient ability? Is it even their fault if they are perceived as not having tried hard enough to stay up? If this is the case, then it could well be an innate laziness, a genetic issue, over which they have no control. Whatever answers we may come up with, I, for one, hope that "we" win promotion at the first attempt, whether "we" deserve it or not.
