I got as far as Tankersley where I was leaving my car and getting a lift, so not too bad. Mate of mine and his son were driving up from Guildford. Hed got as far as Milton Keynes when it got called off.
I didn't know owt about inspection until I met up with Tony and his missus. Glad I didn't drive down on my own or I wouldn't have known lol
Still in Nottingham, train not until 6. 0pm.lunch in hooters, couple of pints in trip to jerusalem, now bored.
Got talking to old Barnsley fan from Scarborough, he had set off from Scarborough on 08-45 train . It was his last away match he could get this year too
Planned on setting off at 12 but waited for inspection it was going to be my lads first away match, we fancied it after the Bristol performance I thought we were in with a chance today.
3 Barnsley fans from New York Tykes set off from New York too . Feel sorry for them having made a special trip to watch us play
4 Ulanbaatar Reds set off on the long drive from central Mongolia this time last week in order to make this game, heard they were a mile from the ground when it was called off. Very unfortunate.
Mate of mine was on the ISS and decided to go to the match early this morning. He donned his silk flying suit and popped outside for an unscheduled space walk, where he fiddled with his thrusters and executed a perfect entry just south of Tahiti. He got a bit of a sweat on during the glide down through the stratosphere, until he finally splashed down in the River Trent alongside the ground. He just got to the away end when he heard the game was called off. He's now on Skyscanner trying to get a flight home, but he's struggling.
I took the scenic route and went via Inverness on my hands and knees taking in a climb up Ben Nevis en route. I set off in August and arrived at the ground just as it was called off.
I travelled all the way to the Lake District doing forward rolls all the way, climbed Napes' Needle on Great Gable blindfold while wearing roller skates and boxing gloves, then descended the scree into Wasdale standing on a lollipop stick, before building a hovercraft using only twigs, leaves and pebbles. I eventually got to the City Ground in my hovercraft at 11:30, and I used the hovercraft to attempt to dry the pitch. However, at 5 to 12 somebody flushed the loo on a passing Airbus on the way to drop off the New York Reds, so the pitch became waterlogged again. ******.
Could you talk us through your method of turning twigs leaves and pebbles into an hovercraft? I'm interested in trying it myself.
