Can't recall them ever playing in their home kit at Oakwell. Same for Wendy's. Must be too much white on show. Although Wendys are predominantly blue this season.
Hudds always used to wear the blue stripes. They must be trying to shift the fluorescent wasp kit from their club shop. Somewhat apt the way they went about the match.
I'd prefer to see clubs wearing their home shirts wherever possible, and maybe just changing shorts and/or socks where required. As already mentioned, all about replica kit sales nowadays. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Their kit was awful! I couldn't pick out their guy stood taking their corners as he blended in with the security stood around the edges.
Being the sad, old, grumpy traditionalist that I am, I don't think there should be a change of strip by the away team unless there's an obvious colour clash. <img src ="http://www.michaelbransonsmith.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Statler-Waldorf-Head-Bobbing.gif">
Not being a girlie I think I've heard that if a girlie wears vertical stripes then she thinks she looks tall and thin but if she wears horizontal stripes then she thinks she looks fat. I know the Hudds players were several sizes bigger than ours in all directions (Mr Heckingbottom please note) but their dimensions seemed bigger cos of their stripes !! They just looked bigger.
Some people are showing their age in this thread both ways. I'm also from the era when a change strip was only used when there was a colour clash. I've seen Huddersfield and Wednesday in their blue and white stripes many times at Oakwell.
I can remember having home shirt bought for Christmas around 1979. Think it was the last one before the silky ones came in. Club shop was a little shack at back of west stand, and they had very limited stock. Scarves sold well though, some used to wear em around neck, and each wrist Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Are they really defined as "home" or "away" kits though? Aren't they first and second kits? But let's not pretend, it has anything other than commerce at heart. Which is fair enough as they are probably contractually obliged to wear their second kit a minimum number of times per season. We seem to do it as well. Who gives a **** though, really.
No they are officially known as home and away kits now and only our 'Poland' looking kit is classed as a third kit
Me too. In the olden days, if we were playing at say Derby, we'd change our socks to red (when we played in white socks), similarly when we played at Birmingham we just changed our shorts to black. That is, we only changed the item which clashed, worse case scenario would be at say Rotherham when we played in white shirt, black shorts and white socks. I was really pleased at Wembley when we only changed shorts.
Clubs advertise kits as home and away. Away kits are the same price as home, so if they were never played in people simply wouldn't buy them even at around 80 pence a week over a year.
I'm a big fan of our Poland kit if I were Huddersfield though I'd avoid wearing that monstrosity on all occasions. Should only wear your away kit if there's a clash the Dodworth godfather is correct.
Ohh this pees me off as well, I lost count of the number of times 2 seasons ago when we wore the yellow n black kit away for no reason at all. And this was away at teams who didn't even wear any red. And seeing as we're asking about Huddersfailed not wearing theirs, why didn't Brighton also not wear their normal blue n white striped kit last week ?
It's all to do with fleecing the fans. Wear the away shirt more often and it is more appealing to shell out close to £50 for a fan. It's the only reason we have bizarrely brought out and wore it when there was no clash. Cash cows
