Sorry if asked before but does anyone know when their appeal is? ....and also who is sitting on the appeals panel?
Spent money they haven't got then blame the virus for being skint. Fully expecting the EFL to announce that we are still relegated
Saw on Twitter they are paying some top notch QC £500K to shape their case..... whilst simultaneously making staff at the club redundant.
New owner must have been able to demonstrate to the EFL that they had enough funds to see out the season, he took over during the covid outbreak, it was the same for us all. Feel for Wigan fans following whats happened with their allegedly unscrupulous new owner but 12 point deduction for administration is written in tablets of stone. Their local MP has got behind the appeal but thats just jumping on the bandwagon to garner favour. I’m sure we’d appeal the appeal if it was upheld but I’m equally confident that it won’t.
The worrying thing about that is they must think they have a chance or the administrators wouldn't waste the money. Unless its a desperate gamble - maybe they think they can sell the club if its still in the Championship but would finish up liquidating it if they go down. I would have felt a lot more comfortable if Luton hadnt had a stunning amount of luck yesterday - 2 own goals and a very soft penalty and still Blackburn hit the post in the last few minutes. How do you score 3 goals without a shot on target other than a penalty I cant really celebrate until the Wigan appeal is done as I just dont trust the EFL - even though I think Wigans case is flawed - and I would still say the same if we were safe regardless
No they arent - its the clubs creditors - the Administrators wont be putting any money in just taking out of the money that the club doesnt have to fund the appeal. If they lose its even less money to settle the debts
Wigan's body-language and everything else around the club last night suggests that they know they are relegated. Nice touch from Paul Cook to congratulate us and I see him as an honest broker in a crooked game. Everything about our response to winning suggests that we believe we are safe. I can't see any appeal being successful, especially when set against the EFL's own regulations. And what about Wednesday? Are Charlton thinking that they could also still be safe if Wednesday are docked twelve points?
