Some on here won't remember it but he made his name as a player at Chesterfield when Arthur Cox was in charge. I seem to remember him being part of a good midfield including Phil Bonnyman.

They had a sort of revival under Cox and looked like they could climb out of their perennial slump status. They spent a (for them) huge amount of money in an attempt to buy their way up the league but it all went wrong.

Chesterfield's not been the same since they signed Ched Evans with results, one man could disrupt a team especially if hes on more money and not producing.

That's about how I would put it.

Was always a Wilson fan and was happy when he came back here, but it didn't work and, whilst I was bloody annoyed at how it ended for him here, we have moved on and are better for it. Whilst he will always be a legend, his obvious support for Ched Evans blotted his copybook for me a bit, as I would have been very unhappy if he had still been our manager and had tried to bring him here.

He has been on a hiding to nothing this year at Chesterfield - amazes me that a club sells all its best players then blames the manager when, surprise, things take a downward turn. Football eh?

Danny will always be a legend for me, he created a magical time to be a reds fan and that will never leave me.

Whilst his second stint was not a success, let us not forget he signed the spine of this team, which has also created some magical times; I'm not sure how much input he had into signing some of them as a lot came from the 'spreadsheet' but i know that Winnall was signed on his say so.

Others he signed were Scowen, Hourihane, Mawson, Roberts(?) , Davies (?) and he played a big part in bringing Mason Holgate on.

    Good luck Danny.

He probably did leave a bit too early but he was probably offered more money, in a higher league, most folk would do the same.

    He didn't sign Mawson.

Neither Roberts nor Holgate were Wilson signings either.

Davies was signed in his time here but he brought in turnbull and davies only got a game when turnbull's glass back was playing up.

It was Mark Crossley who told Wilson to sign Davies

    Don't be so cynical.
You've heard all the interviews with the football fraternity ,players managers ,chief execs etc. It's not about the money it's the challenge.

    (Yeah right )
