If Cauley were to be that type of striker, then he'd cop for criticism for his lack of movement! For me, the lad has done exceptionally well for us. Had he not missed the first few months of the season through injury, there's no doubt in my mind he'd have comfortably broken the 20 league goals figure for the campaign.
I for one will be cheering his brace on Saturday although it will be overshadowed by Thiams thunderbolt.
Wherever he plays he will have two opposing players on his shoulder. Teams have him as their no 1 to mark Says a lot about his danger from their part
I'm not sure they've all played together that much though? Dougal started season with Mowatt but after he got injured at Shrewsbury. McGeehan seems to have played most games.
I rate Woodrow extremely highly by the way. I can't believe a player of his calibre signed for us in the first place.
I think its a bit simplistic to say strikers should be in the penalty area all the time. It would be great if they were stood waiting to knock in accurate deliveries all game, but football's not like that, and you're required to do a lot more, both defensively and as part of the build up. I see mention of Alan Shearer, but he scored from all over the shop, and you've only to look where he was when he booted Neil Lennon in the face. Woodrows strike rate is top notch, as is his attitude and the way he rattles opposing defenders, for me it's up to the other lads to muck in with the goals. Goals from midfield would remedy our problem, and also set pieces.
If you look at his career, he's actually played a lot of football for Fulham and on loan, and most of it at championship level. Last couple of seasons Fulham were flirting with promotion and then in the Prem, so he's found himself down the pecking order in favour of likes of mitrovic. I've a mate whos a Fulham fan and he said we were getting a really good player when we signed him.
No it’s him trying too hard it’s obvious from the way he’s playing, trying to get on the ball too much
At the end of the day Woodrow is a striker. If he strikes enough then fair enough. If he doesn't strike something is wrong. For me, he is striking. (and this is not a comment about trade unionism before anyone takes the piss)
I think that he is truly a class above League One average, but has had to be two players in one without Kieffer Moore. I am not sure who will benefit who when Kieffer is on the pitch, but, if it works as it should, both could get the goals we need.
