Safe to visit or not and would people recommend going to Moscow, St.Petersberg etc? Having visited several of the former soviet countries I know that a lot of this fear mongering is nonsense, however the actual modern day Russia does seem to have a particularly bad reputation and with the events at Euro 2016 I'm obviously a bit sceptical.
Probably best going and staying away from the main groups of England fans. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Get thissen off man. Just be wary that they knocked England all over in France, they've all trained at fighting during their national service, they've another 2 years of practice at it, their police will do nothing to protect you and their government got their lads out of France without prosecution and rolled the red carpet out for them. Oh, and they are historically one of the most violent nations on earth. Should be a good one especially with Southgate in charge and the leakiest defence in living memory.
Been to Moscow twice - really like it. Weird, massive city with some amazing buildings and some Soviet monstrosities! As the double was weak when we went, we could go to the better restraints and it was still cheaper than here. St Petersberg is amazing, so many palaces and other amazing buildings and museums. There were some decent real ale places too! The museum of political history was great - only found out about the retro video game museum after we left. If you don't wear an England shirt or behave like a tw@t you will be fine. The people all look miserable but are very warm if you can speak a little Russian or they want to practice their English on you (our friends are Russian and said themselves that everyone walks around not smiling!) If you fancy something different go to Suzdal - little traditional Russian village with about 50 churches!!
Anybody see the programme on the Russian Ultras on TV in March.? Absolutely mental. Any of our fans going over there need to excercise caution. Learning Russian could be a good starting point.
Anybody going over needs their head looking at. This isn't about acting like a **** or not, this is about organised groups of Russian thugs targetting foreigners. Their police will do nothing to stop them and will prosecute any English tourists caught up in it regardless of guilt or innocence.
Moscow, St Petersburg and Kazan will be absolutely fine. They have massive experience of putting on big events, and won't want to risk anything going wrong. The people on the whole are warm, welcoming, and very highly educated and cultured. As for the provincial cities, where the vast majority of the hooligans hail from, and where the authorities have little experience of such huge events - it really is anybody's guess what will happen, unfortunately.
ask yourself this, do you think you'll get a even handed treatment from the Russian legal system from the police up? We should boycott the whole thing given Russia's involvement in trying to rig elections, it's invasion of other countries. The fact it is run by cleptomaniacs who have stolen the people's wealth. With all the evidence before you, anyone who goes there and is subsequently shocked by their treatment at the hands of this rogue state, really deserve all they get.
