My favourite tournament where players can't switch off like they can in set play and they have the summer heat to deal with and the most respectful PDC crowd. Only two matches in to the opening night and both the seeds have lost. Plenty more will go too as the first round carries on. Happy to see Bunting get a big TV that's been long overdue.
One day Gerwyn Price's head is going to blow right off his shoulders. Bunting is a really nice guy. Always has time for a chat.
Lots of close matches in the first two days and we've also had a 10-0 and a 10-1. Wade showed a lot of bottle earlier to get over the line. Lewis vs Durrant will be great later on.
Durrant is playing excellent 8-2 at the break. MVG was way off the boil likes he's been a lot by his standards recently in beating Beaton. He will have to up his game if he ends up playing Durrant in the second round.
At the risk of sounding like George Spicer, I can’t think of anything more crass than a four pint jug.
Been waiting for Matchplay all year, Ian White's in for a shout this year but best match could be tonight Ricky Evans vs Daryl Gurney, that's if Evans plays like he's been doing on ProTour.
Last night was arguably the greatest session of Darts in the history of the sport. Every match was quality and full of action. Super happy for Durrant beating MVG. So now he's beat a 2 time and a 3 time world champion just to get to the last eight. That's the downside of being so low in the rankings because of his code switch.
Smith vs Durrant should be a belter of a semi final on Saturday night. Wade had monk on when Glen won with a treble 19 followed by 2 double tops. He couldn't get off the stage quick enough either. If Durrant wins the tournament it would probably be the toughest run ever to win a TV major. 2 time world champion, 3 time world champion, greatest ever not to be world champion, 2020 world finalist and possibly a 1 time world champion in the final.
Didn't "have monk on" just because of that tbf. He knew it wasn't his night from leg 5. Never hangs about when he 's lost whether it's on Pro-Tour or a TV Major. Got to know and understand him a lot over the last two or three years and it's part of his condition to just get away and be on his own after he loses. Few minutes later and he's fine. Lots of the top pro's are the same, some are better; some are worse.
I don't mind a player being miserable as it shows the care. Loved watching Ronnie Baxter back in the day but was annoying seeing him laughing and joking after defeats all the time.
