Patterson regretting his brain freeze when he should have had Livingstone out in single figures.

That Patterson miss in the first over was proper amateurish. It actually landed quite close to him but he showed no interest in going for it. Great player for Yorkshire. Completely inexplicable, and Livingstone made us pay big time.

176 for 2 - that's going to take some chasing with only 14 overs to get them. Wish we had Jonny B playing.

On the other hand our other international stars haven't exactly lit the evening up. Let's hope our stellar batsmen claw it back and I really hope Kane Williamson makes a great total.

Bringing in so many changes has certainly not worked so far.

glad we brought willey back in, bowled like a pie man batted like Chris Taverer trying to save a test match

(Brilliant from Root, tragic from Willey)

It's like the county championship with having to fit England players in costing us when the team regulars have done brilliantly and had to be dropped.

Patterson as captain cost us the game not getting Livingstone. Can't be many teams in the history of cricket anywhere that's ever had two test captains in the same side and someone who's never represented his country is in charge.

Gale can't be far off being fired. He was the cheap option and it's not worked out. To think Plunkett and Willey should bat above the big money international is crazy. Williamson at six wow.

Stunning game, crushing disappointment and definitely questionable leadership at Headingley. We looked like getting nowhere near so to fall one run short is hard to take

I’ve no time for Willey. One decent performance in s blue moon from him and he was well off the pace tonight

When they went with the cheap option of Gale, we could give him last season to stamp his own look on the players. But this season it's got no better and we aren't looking like winning a trophy. We could even be relegated.

I know it’s a team game but literally lost because of one player tonight.

There are so many hindsight things that you could take from this that would have seethe result the other way. However this is the difference at top level of sport. Small things make a big difference.

    - Yorkshires fielding as hit and miss
    - The missed chance from Livingstone early
    - Willey could have played for two's to get himself in and would have been enough if the other end was going big
    - Could have played spin earlier

But for me Yorkshire only got themselves in it last 2-3 overs. The last over was a disaster. A dot ball when a single would have been ok even risking a run out. Running a single when then needed 2 with 5 to go from 2 balls. Leaving 4 instead of 3 where a tie or win would be in sight. With some batting left to come they could have risked things more that last over.

If anyone can face the punishment, Yorkshire are playing at Chesterfield next Saturday at 2.30. Queen's Park is just outside the town centre. I can drive it in under 30 minutes from junction 34. It's nearer and easier than Headingley for me, maybe not so if you live in Barnsley. You don't have to drive right across Leeds though.

I live in Wakefield and can probably get to Chesterfield quicker than Headingley, absolutely ridiculous location, like the airport and their idea of a “ring road” #weallhateLeeds
