1860 Munich have until 15:30 tomorrow to pay 10,000,000€ or face relegation to the 4th tier of German football, after being relegated to the 3rd tier on Tuesday night.

Their whole board of directors have resigned and they have only six first team players left!

This is before the inevitable fine/punishment for their fans ripping out seats and throwing them on the pitch on Tuesday night, up to 10 coppers were injured too.

Sad to see a former Bundesliga champion in such a state.

I don't think things are 'bad' here at the moment anyway. It's not an ideal situation, plenty of work to do; but there are few clubs I'd swap places with right now

They've certainly come down with a bump! It will be interesting to see which stadium they use next season.

I'll admit to only having a limited knowledge of German football before I ask this! Is there any reason why 1860 Munich are in such difficulty? I realise Bayern will dominate that city in all footballing respects but I've often wondered why 1860 have had such a prolonged period without much success. They appear to have a reasonably large fanbase and clearly coming from Munich must have many advantages to attracting players and investment? Are they simply too much in the shadow of the mighty neighbours or are they a smaller club than I have always imagined?

Their current problems come from having absolute f*ckwit owners who don't seem to understand football. They've had a lot of financial issues too, they used to share the Allianz Arena with Bayern, but now Bayern own it, and again a few years ago they had even more financial problems where Bayern offered to bail them out again, before their current owner came in, promised them CL Football within 5 years, and look where they are now.

Who do they owe €10m to?

It's a bond, so I'm guessing like a registration fee to compete within the league system.

A few of the smaller teams in the regional leagues have come close over the past few years to going bust, Germany isn't immune unfortunately :)

Shame what's happening at 1860 Munich, went to watch them earlier this season. Over 60,000 there on Tuesday. A team with potentially that kind of support should be no where near div 3. Like you say LD Red, owners are destroying that club. We'll be there hopefully next season again no matter where they're playing.

Which game were you at? I was there twice this season, against Hannover(lost 2-0) and Fortuna(lost 3-1).

We were at the fortuna one also, we were shocking(1860). Really enjoyed the atmosphere though even though only 22000 in the Allianz Arena. It was our 1st game abroad. Also loved the drinking in Munich. Hoping to go back in October again after Octoberfest.

I was in the away end, I'm a season ticket holder at Fortuna, so it was a good day out for us :D

Glad you enjoyed it lol. It looked a good atmosphere in the away end. What's it cost for a season ticket if you don't mind me asking? I see you get to quiet a lot of foreign games, it's something I wouldn't mind doing in next 5/10 years or so. But I think at the moment our German team is 1860. Wouldn't mind watching a game in Italy, Poland, Holland at some point.

My season ticket works out at around £150 mate, that's for 17 games. I try and do as many away games as possible as well as visiting new stadiums, I managed 10 this season and most tickets were between 12 and 15€. Can't argue with those prices at all.

Italy I've only done AC Milan so far, and Holland I have a soft spot for Feyenoord so try and go over every season, my friend has a season ticket so I just send her a message and ask for x amount of tickets then turn up, happy days :D

Can't grumble at that. What made you follow fortuna then? I take it you live in Düsseldorf?
They were top half of table earlier in season weren't they but didn't finish much above relagation places?

40€ mate for the 2nd tier. I have Italian friends who organised it all, I just turned up! Even tickets for the Milan derby seem to reach general sale.

My brother in law is a Fortuna fan, although I'm 3 hours away as I live in the middle of nowhere.

First half of the season there was an outside change of challenging near the top, then they went on a disastrous run which saw one home win in about 6 months, stayed up in style(with a bit of luck) with a 3-2 win at Nuremburg in the p*ssing rain, a great day out :)
