Imagine giving alcohol to the Ponty End, they'd be looting the bars in no time. (smiley thing)

Not sure about the west stand but isn't the ponty end something to do with health and safety and the width of the concourse? They cant get a licence essentially. Pretty sure that's the case.

If they're wanting people down to the ground early using bars etc they have to invest in building them and thats something they're not willing to do whilst the current board are in place. There's two corners there that could be used. They have had numerous idea's given to them to improve the matchday experience but they have been ignored, it must be one of the worst experiences in the league and if the teams playing badly at the same time then.....The stadiums being left to rot season after season, l think we last had some major work done during the Premiership season.

I know that match day experience is one of the areas the club are looking at. Apart from a supporters bar what else would you like to see pre-match?

Who would want to buy the over priced rubbish they serve at Oakwell anyway.

Why do you think there is a rush to get into the ground 5 minutes before kick off?

It because most Pubs in tarn now serve decent ales and thats were we are before the match.

Give us some decent reasonably priced real ales to drink and not John fecking Smiths smooth and Cats Piss Lager and I'd be stood art side Oakwell waiting to get in on Setdys.

But hey, the powers that be at Oakwell are only interested in taking our money not giving us a good Day out. We are the lowest of the low to them.

You are *defintely* a bitter man!

The catering at Oakwell has been outsourced to Lindley catering for several seasons allowing the club to concentrate its efforts around the football side of the club. I agree what Lindley provide is shockingly poor and you have to wonder if they ever do any market research.

That said, your comments about "We are the lowest of the low" are ridiculous.

Probably because average age of Ponty end is about 15, lol.

I had the misfortune of purchasing a plastic bottle of warm larger (Carlsberg) on Tuesdaywhich cost £3.30 - And I threw half in the bin it was that bad.

    You ain't missing much.

That's why I don't drink in the ground. Exceptionally bad ales.

Mind you, Wembley was just as bad, as are most places where you are captive once you have paid to get in.

They only care about getting your money not providing a decent drink.

It's all a part of rip off UK.

Acorn Brewery was serving Real Ales at open day. I'd be surprised if the idea hasn't been floated in some way.

They've conducted a survey on the official site about the matchday experience and asking people what they want. Quite a few people posted on here (or the old bbs) saying that they had filled in the survey requesting timerider as the themetune and yet what did the club run out to on tuesday? Chuffing rocky. Now i'm sorry Gally but lets be honest here how many people who filled in the survey do you think requested Rocky as the club's entrance music? Exactly.

The club act say that they're wanting help and are willing to listen and give the fans what they want but unfortunately their actions show the exact opposite. It's sad really.

Surely the club were intelligent enough to put clauses into the contract which allowed them to maintain at least SOME level of control over the catering. They MUST have a clause in there stating that lindleys have to maintain a certain level of service. If they haven't got a clause like this in then i'm sorry but our club is being run like an amateur outfit.

I can't believe that the club haven't been able to stop Lindley's from removing the pumps from oakwell and going bottle only. Are you suggesting that Lindleys could actually decide to never even open the refreshment stands ever again and BFC could do nothing about it?

Er... No i haven't suggested any of that. We both know that the club is run on a tight budget so I guess there are higher priority things for them to look at.

That said, if people feel strongly enough about it there's no reason The Trust couldn't raise this issue the next meeting with the club.

I didn't know you could only buy bottles from the bar now. That is crap. Is there any more selection?

I didn't notice whether there was any more selection or not but I suspect there wasn't, there didn't look to be a wide selection anyway.

I know that you weren't suggesting it but if they really don't have any control over the catering then it is an extreme example of what could happen. I know what you're saying about there being higher priority things to look at but I think that catering and the quality of the refreshment stands is quite a big influence on whether or not people attend Oakwell and so the club really should be interested because it is costing them money in lost ticket sales.

I believe that draft pints can be bought from the East Stand (upper) concourse. Saw someone Tuesday with one.

And Yes, the quality of the catering / beer effects whether you stay in the pub in town until 2:50pm or make it to the ground at 2pm.
