Are you sure it wasn't just poured from a bottle into a glass/cup? The bar staff told me that to cut costs and 'make things easier' all pumps had been removed.
If Lindleys can make a profit and Nike are coming in to make a profit then what is stopping Barnsley FC from making a profit? Why are revenue streams being given away?
I did suggest a beer festival at the club to tie in with the weekend of the openday. It was probably too close to the openday at the time to get it organised but something maybe something for next year. Great to see Acorn there though! I'd love to see a supporters bar in one of these big marquees in the eaststand or exec car park on the same lines as they have at The Stoop. Make a day of it - show the match before. Replay the game afterwards etc (if possible). Put some entertainment on for kids. Make it a match day experience!
Summat like the bar that they have at Notts County. Plenty of staff and beer (pumps) as well as decent food. Also seating with TV screens at end of each booth. If they showed live Sky Sports, I'd be there from mid-day until kickoff. They'd be no need to hang about in town.
It's a question that I can't help but wonder as well. If you cut out the middle man it means more profit for yourself surely.
East stand upper bar was serving cans of Tetleys, poured into plastic glasses. Awful. I for one am going to avoid drinking there now!
Tv's up and down the stand with soccer Saturday on at half time, doing away with that ***** music at half time or at the very least turning the speakers down by half, a big massive tv hung from the away stand with extended highlights from the last home and away games half hour before kick off, and then at half time the major talking points/goals from the first half, and the same at full time.
Would be nice, but didn't you see the decrepit score board almost go into meltdown just before halftime on Tuesday. Extra 1 mins added time and the scoreboard uploaded a graphic (looked like via a 9600b modem) which said 6 mins added time. Most pubs.....please tell me where they all are, because in town at the momet it's the 2 Wetherspoon's and the Couthouse. Is the No7 open yet?
Re: Yes, because most people in those stands are exceedingly drunk already......... Err....me and my mates.....rare that we have a pre-match pint
THe catering at oakwell is a joke. I have lost count of the number of times two minutes before half time the pies have all gone or they are scrapping the barrel when the whistle goes. And for what you do get it is expensive *****. THe pies are hardly worth the money!! As for the ale, £3.10 for a CAN yes that a can of tetley. FOr me the club is getting pillocked left right and centre, I wonder how much money the club is losing becuase they cannot get things right themselves.
Re: Yes, because most people in those stands are exceedingly drunk already......... Yeah and most of ***** you post on here it makes me think have you had a skinful before posting on here... and I am for one who hasnt had a skinful before a match as I drive there....
The club have a quote for a new videoscreen sent to them by the supporters trust and its a very low cost for the revenue it brings in thorugh marketing, it pays for itself basically. Also pre-match it can be used to show past games/greatest goals etc, something for people to watch..again this idea as been ignored.
