Or when Ritchie told us we weren't ever going to go up again

Just remind me how much longer they lasted?

You see keith, if you had been as smart as you cracked on to be, you would have looked at the recent history of this club and realised that you don't make the same mistakes as anyone else. One faux pas would have been bad enough, two is just downright stupid. If I was you I would I'd shut up, get on with your job, stop courting the media and hope the furore dies down.

When you get a bit of spare time, book yourself on a PR course and stop reading Colin ******* book, " how to be a **** end"

hes not said anything wrong ffs.

if i was the manager at oakwell i would be much harder on the fans.

some of the people who turn up at oakwell and you cant call these fans as that means they should get behind the team are an 100% disgrace.

some of the fans need telling. i sat and listened to it on tuesday night but if its like that again some people will be told the cold hard truth.

Bassett referred to a section of fans on the internet as Anoraks,he said it once, Ritchie made his comments once then shut up when he saw the reaction.....Keith Hill has spent two weeks making a number of derogatory statements about fans and the clubs status ,in effect belittling both. He doesn't look like he's going to shut up

Hill hasn't blamed us for anything.

He said some of the criticism from the terraces was unjustified in his opinion and he's tried to relay the real position of BFC in the footballing hierachy as he sees it. He's been put in charge of a club where the policies of the last 3/4 seasons has altered dramatically in terms of freedom to bring in expensive Premiership loannees.

Whether he was well judged to do so is another debate, but the vitriol aimed at him and the absolute hysterical reaction of some on here beggars belief - when did we all get so hyper-sensitive ? Never knew Barnsley folk were so sensitive, poor souls.

For all his boring tone of voice, Mark Robins was much better with the fans. He was always pretty honest and straight in post- match interviews and praised/ encouraged the fans who I think almost to a man, supported him

Re: Which is why you'll never make a manager

Had the opportunity to speak to Robins twice - once after his first (part) season here and once in may this year - the contrast couldn't be more pronounced between a man up for the job and a man who 12 months later was blatantly obviously not going to stop here. Reasons for that seem to be becoming clear.

The only observation I'd make is that from Christmas 2010 to the end of the season we were abysmal. In fact apart from Leeds every home game was awful imho. We seemed happy 'not to lose' - some would say that would be progress this year.

Re: Which is why you'll never make a manager

I agree there is an overreaction, and vitriol , booing etc isnt going to help anyone.
Hill needs to know that he HAS to keep the fans on side. We are a fair bunch on the whole (yes there will always be folks who go OTT), but if we see effort, and a real attempt to play we will forgive defeats to better equipped sides.

Fact is he is digging his heels in, when he needs to hold his hands up and say, Yes, those three performances weren't good enough. He's in the Chron today saying he won't drop players he's brought in. He needs to play them because if he doesn't it will destroy their confidence. What does that say to players already here who have been dropped to makeway for newcomers who are seemingly no better, and in certain cases much worse than those left out. Is the confidence of those players unimportant.

Every time he opens his mouth he is digging himself deeper. We need him to shut up for a bit, let the players do the talking with some decent effort, and let Flitcroft do the interviews, being just a bit more humble. I don't think Hill is necessarily a bad manager, I want him to do well, but he is shooting himse;lf in the foot big time.

Re: Which is why you'll never make a manager

He brought Foster and Steele straight back in on Tuesday. Foster at the expense of one of his new signings.

imho the only position where your accusation has any merit is at full back regarding Wiseman and Hassell.

What he's actually doing is publically protecting Scott Wiseman - now again imho I think he'd be better pushed forward and have Hassell behind him, but it's quite obvious that Wiseman has somehow become the focus for a lot of criticism, some of which is actually general criticism of Hill.

I think we need to accept that sometimes people do things in a slightly different way to how we personally would do them.

Agree totally. I am sick and tired of listening to him. He will stubbornly play those players regardless of the TEAM as a whole and perhaps with a better chance of winning games. I've just listened to his interview again and it sounds even worse the second time round; "I know I am a good manager!", he says, well prove it then and choose players fairly and on merit, not just because you've brought them in!

Re: Which is why you'll never make a manager

I can see exactly what he is TRYING to do. He is trying to protect his team and the spirit.
It's commendable, BUT he's made a right hash of it, In protecting one player he's undermining another; and whether he likes it or not everything he says/ does will be super-scrutinised from now on. That's the reason he needs to shut up for a bit. I think he is right about alot of things, I think he's stubborn on others.... but to save hiself weeks of aggro he needs to just keep quiet.

I don't like booing, and I don't like getting on individual players backs, but it's inevitable. Fact is folks pay their money and feel they have the right to show displeasure. There's no point debating whether it's right or wrong, if the performances are as bad as that, it WILL happen.

I hope this blows over. We could do with wiping the slate clean, having a "slagging off amnesty" and in return we should see some passionate displays. I honestly believe that a Barnsley crowd, (particularly in adversity) will get behind a team that they can see is putting in the effort.

agree with you on that mark.i'll listen to anybody's opinion, but he puts his own words on your posts then argues against them. then you find yourself disagreeing on something completely different to what you origanally posted. "confused" so was i.

What is the "cold hard truth" ?

Is it that we have no money and a manager that thinks we are playing well and the fans should just clap and enjoy the total football we are playing?
    OR

We have played absolutely diabolical, the manager now says the fans are unrealistic in wanting a good footballing side, we have no money, less pride and even less ability?

I will let you choose, because I think I know which it is.

I agree, Hill has made his bed with pre-season comments, now he should back up those grand words with a team that will put a shift in!

I think I disagree with you, but to be honest, at least 50% read as if you'd typed it into a google translator in Japanese and clicked 'English'. So I don't have a clue what you actually meant. I swear that English isn't your first language.
