i was encouraged to contribute a blog post by Wilky at OnThePontyEnd, and it was published for ur delectation this afternoon.. im not tooting my own ere by asking anyone to read it. i dont care particularly whether anyone liked it. it was my own personal slant. as it turns out ive recieved a lot of thanx for saying what others were thinking. i was particularly taken by the positive response from Dave Preece, and a certain wonderkids father.. made me feel kinda re-invigorated knowing i wasnt alone in my thoughts, despite feeling as alone as possible in the Ponty on tuesday nite..
but hey, take a look. or dont. but the options there and the msg is clear...

Spot on that mate. Hill's done himself no favours raising the fans' expectations with all that talk during pre-season. Seems now like a massive gamble that's properly backfired on him, because in reality there was no way we could expect to come out guns blazing and suddenly play like promotion contenders with arguably a weaker and less experienced side than this time last season. Still, doesn't warrant the treatment he's been getting recently. Makes me wonder what some of our so called 'supporters' hope to achieve by turning up and booing every week.

Also, been a season ticket holder 15 years now and sit up in the east stand. Can't remember hearing a decent amount of singing since we were in the prem, it's an absolute disgrace to be honest. Anyone that dares stand up and attempt to make a noise just gets looked at like they're mental, just as stumped as you on how to turn that around!

Definitely could do with some kind of result tomorrow, imagine the difference scraping a 1-0 would make to the atmosphere on here. Here's hoping!

Fans don't turn up every week to boo, we haven't scored for 6 hours and got played off the park in the last three games, one of those by cockle pickers . I'm not a booing type of fan but I don't cheer for nothing, give us something to cheer about Keith, start by getting the team to show some passion in their play.....and win or lose tomorrow keep thi gob shut after the match

Good post, Whitey, but one or two thoughts.

First, I think there are actually quite a few fans like me who tend to watch the game quietly, even studiously, cheering when we do something good, or even score - remember that! - but suffer in silence when we are under-performing.

Second up - we have built an away end that holds 33% more fans than the home end. OK, it isn't full every match, but it always seems to generate more noise/atmosphere than the home end. No use complaining about the East Stand - if its inhabitants (me included) wanted to make a lot of noise they'd go in the Ponty!

Now - Hill's team. It's not a case of waiting for things to come right because if we're honest with ourselves the current squad are just not good enough. Let's not kid ourselves here - we've all been watching second and third tier football long enough to know the difference! So what we are actually being offered is an inferior product for a greater cost. OK, sameish cost if you renewed your ST,but I'm afraid I didn't feel able to take that gamble with the reservations I had. And what I've been offered twice now for £23 doesn't encourage me to part with £30 for most of the remaining games.

Any business involves shrewd investment, so that as Bill Gates said, "you get another play at the table". But planning to stand still doesn't work, because everyone else is moving on. We've gone low cost a year too early, and we are set to pay the consequences unless somethging changes.

    I hope it does!

A good read that Whitey and I think you reflect the feelings of the majority. Like you quite rightly point out the negative atmosphere is getting to us all, including the players. UTR.
