Language on this Forum

Do we really have to have such obscene language as has appeared in posts today. I'm no prude, and can swear with the best in the right situation. But I can also make my point without having to use swear words to emphasise the point.
I am encouraging my Grandchildren to follow all that is good about Barnsley Football Club, and read all they can about our club.
But I will not expose them to the kind of language that appears here sometimes from some people!

This forum has no age restrictions.

 

This is the 21st century gramps...you're grandchildren are going to be exposed to obscenities sooner or later.

 

If thats aimed at me fella then all I can do is apologise and I know its no excuse but if you have been reading this last few days then you may have noticed that there has been a problem with the swear filter so I have been testing the boundaries of what is and what isn`t allowed.

If you are serious about letting your youngsters on here then I would warn you that quite a few posters have a snifter or two whilst posting so sometimes it can be like a WMC tap room on here. Anyway I will try my best to refrain but I cannot make any promises because my memory is ****.

What swearing? The swear filter on this site makes it just about the most censored site on the Internet.

 

I did think that myself, but hadn`t read all todays posts so gave it the benefit of doubt.

 

this site has claims to have links with the club , as such swearing should not be allowed , unless the site is for adults only.

if not all must agree that swearing should be banned and the culprits banned.

Even the asterix's have been fewer today, I think folk have given up trying to beat the filter.

 

But what words would land you with a ban? You can open most red tops and you'll regularly see mild swear words printed. Turn on the telly pre water shed its the same. Pop the wireless on and you hear songs about doing women up the wrong ' un and the phrase nigga bandied about.

 

I beat it in a Tyke 1 thread. Not that I`m proud of it or owt.

Can't we just be sensible?
Usually Bulletin Boards don't need swear filters.
Nobody is without blame.
Try, just try to take responsibility.

Could Site Admin maybe run a poll?
Unless we gauge opinion we can't really move forward.
No way should this board be compromised by such an issue.
The only way forward is together.
