Could easily have switched to midfield in the wake of Scholes' retirement, had United needed it - they don't, of course! Absolute class, and nailed on to pass Sir Bobby's scoring record for the Red Devils.

I can't stand the playboy Ronaldo either but it terms of skill he is better than Rooney (maybe not as an player overall). I would also argue that Cantona is a better player and was more influencial as a manure player. I can't put up an argument for Edwards as I just haven't seen enough of him.
P!SS..........nope I haven't seen a Man United player with as much skill In fact I would say I haven't seen a British player with as much skill. and I've seen some brilliant players in my time including Tony Currie, Rodney Marsh, Gaza etc No matter what people think about Rooneys personality.......and I can't see why people should dislike him........you cant take away that this guy can do things that most players in the world can't Rooney would walk into any league or national team in the world and that includes Barcellona

Ronaldo, for starters, most United fans knew he was better and Rooney lived in his shadow. As for Best and Charlton, stop being silly. Duncan Edwards - how you can say that? I don't know, because there isn't exactly a lot of footage around. Read Charlton's book - I'll trust his opinion over yours. Finally, Cantona? I'm sure that there's plenty that would trade Rooney now for a prime Eric Cantona.
Re: Rooney........the best ever Man United player I think he's got better after his hair transplant, obviously in Charltons time he had to comb it over so didn't have the transplant option which puts his achievements into perspective.Think what Charlton could have done if hair transplants were available in his time. All the others had a full head of hair so I'd put Charlton first followed by Rooney

Charlton could strike a ball better, when hitting the ball actually took some doing rather than doing something with the modern ball. Don't know much about Edwards to be fair.
