    John Dennis
For...........Built the stadium what you see today. Built the training facilities that can be seen today. Successfully built a team that went into the Premiership.
Against…..Took the club into administration and then off loaded the club to individuals that made the situation worse.

    Patrick Cryne
    For...........Promoted from the 1st Division.
Against…..The team has struggled to progress since coming back into the Championship.

Don’t get me wrong, we have a lot to be thankful for regarding Pat Cryne. In fact there ought to be some sort of memorial or statue at the ground to commemorate his work at Barnsley because without him there would be no club.
But since we came up from division 1 we seemed to be just treading water and not moving
So in my view we seemed to progress more year on year when John Dennis was at the club.

Well there is only one answer to the question. That's john Dennis. Cryne has never been chairman.

Two different eras - can't really compare the two. Dennis certainly wouldn't have the necessary funds to get us on a level playing field

cant compare the 2.. the league back then was a much leveller playing-field, with the Premier League in its embryonic stage..
but both men should be remembered in future for the great things they did.

    John Dennis verses Patrick Cryne......

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day....thou art more sunnily well off yet more darkly imprisonable

Well thank you for telling us that John Dennis really did build the stadium what we see today.

Nobody has done as much for BFC as Patrick Cryne so for me he is a clear winner.

Have patience, wait and see, Dennis led us to the Prem but also to brink of oblivion, Patrick's tenure could be heading for a rocky patch, its in the balance

To be pedantic about one point, JD did not off load the club to individuals that made the situation worse. From the point the club went into administration everything about its future and every decision made was out of his hands. The administrator sold the club to individuals that made the situation worse, not JD.

All my best memories come from the Dennis era, a very good period for the club.

Cryne did save the club and has got us back where we belong but at present I don't thinks its clear what direction we are heading.

Didn't Dennis build a massive 6000 seater stand that is empty nearly every match. Where did the money come from???? Mmmmmm from our one chance of getting back to the Premiership!

How much of his own money has Dennis put into the club? £3.50p maybe a bit more.

Cryne saved us from oblivion and Mr D., he has also chucked millions into the club.

They can't be compared, they are not in the same league.

Mr Cryne..... is without doubt the winner...

Why does there have to a winner?
Dennis did some great things during his time at Oakwell, he also did some abvsolutely stupid things aswell.
Cryne has done some great things during his time here also, but he has been behind some silly things too.

Without these two the club would not have had some of its finest moments and I cant understand why they should be played off against one another?

Why has there to be a winner........well, its a sort of Harry Hill thing..........

    ..................fight, fight, fight !!!!

Love to see that............(this would be a good time to use icons...........but they just wont work)

We never had this trouble when Tommy Tyke was running the website

Which, now I'm thinking on those lines.........Tommy Tyke verses Gally...........which is/was the better website designer

AND wouldn't you just love to see that fight.!!!!!............(again, this would be a good time to use icons)

Although I think Paul is a lovely, gentle, decent bloke, I'd back him every time. Having said that, if I was having a bet on it, I'd use Madmark's money!!
