The move in format seems to have killed off the last of the banter.
Seems very dry n humourless since the move.

Sorry Gally I know how hard you've worked on it over the years and
    Many thanks for that

I was clinging for dear life to the face of the cliff.
As the rescue team approached one of the guys shouted "Whatever you do, don't look down".

    So I started smiling.

There a bit of (poor) humour for you.

    Give it time.

It will soon be kicking off again.

Do you think that it is "dry and humourless" because of a new BBS format? Seriously? Nothing to do with the negative vibes that have transferred over from the old BBS, perhaps reflecting the football on offer at Oakwell this season so far (apparently - obviously I cannot comment)?

I just don't get the negative comments about the new format - it's a vast improvement as far as I am concerned. There's just been nothing very positive for people to be commenting about. That's shen you'll get a bit more banter (hopefully!)

I think you could be right Calgary

I bet the nagative's among us couldn't wait to get posting on the new board, whilst the ordinary joe's have taken their time in switching over, it has taken time for me to get to grips with the new format and how I want to view it, this could be the case with a lot more people. Personally I now like it.

This is miles better than the old format, that was stuck in the past - a bit like some fans.

It hasn't helped that a lot of old users haven't come over from the old BBS. I think it will pick up on here in time.

How can the new format be a vast improvement

when you can't even tell which posts you've already read?

I'm very grateful for what Gally has done and I'm not having a go at him at all, but let's be right here, having links change colour when you've read them is a fundamental part of the world wide web and has been since it's inception. Yet here we are in 2011, a new BBS for a new era and it doesn't do one of the most basic yet important things a bulletin board should do. It's a massive step backwards. You log on to the BBS and you've no idea which are new posts and which aren't. You spend half the time clicking on posts you've already read. It's a terrible system and it puts me off coming on here. I'd wager I'm not the only one who finds it frustrating.

There's not enough people posting on here, that is true, but there's never going to be when what we've got is so fundamentally flawed.

"Shout, shout, let it all out, these are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on"

Whoops! Where did that come from?

I CAN tell when I have already read a post - so not sure what's wrong with yours. Each thread title is in RED if unread, then turns to GREEN when I have read it. Take a look at the drop-down box right at the bottom left of this page - if I click on BBS or BBSv2 it does the red/green thing. It doesn't on Classic for me. Give it a go and see if works for you.

Nothing turns green no matter what skin I use

Don't know how you've got it doing that because site admin have said they don't know to make it do that.

    I must be special!

Seriously though, when we first switched over it did not change colour, then I thought Gally worked on it and it started working for me, and a few others I believe. Then I think it stopped working for some people. Anyway, I'm happy as Larry. Shame it's not working so well for you.

I use Chrome and the threaded view, and my links go green.

it turns green from red for me

    so....?
my only gripe is the reply issues i have.. its 50/50 as to whether it will post when i click submit..
posting a new thread works every time. but yeah, replying is dodgy for some reason. must be just me, as nobody else has said owt.. for instance, this is the 3rd time ive typed this, and its not worked, so i have to leave, return, click reply, type it all again, and again hope for the best..
so its strange, and keeping me from joining in as much as id like..

Shame for you because I've not had a problem with that at all, unlike on the old BBS which used to "freeze" on me, or take ages to come up with the "thank-you for submitting your message" message. This BBS really is super-fast for me, and I've got a crappy old lap-top that needs giving to the kids to play games on.
