A man thought to be a Wales football fan has died following an incident before the team's match against England at Wembley. The man, in his 40s, was taken to hospital with head injuries after emergency crews were called to an area outside the stadium at 19:20 BST. He died in hospital shortly before 21:00 BST. Six people have been arrested and police are treating the case as a murder inquiry. Were you at the match? Do you have any information you wish to share with the BBC? Glad i'm not a Donny fan having to go to Cardiff on Saturday, after the murder of a Walsh fan this evening they be baying for blood edit just found out it was the taffys scrapping with each other so scrap that comment
Six men, all believed to be Welsh fans, have been arrested in relation to the incident. A London Ambulance Service (LAS) spokesman said: "I can confirm that LAS got a call at 7.20pm to reports of an assault outside Wembley Stadium. "Staff treated a man who had suffered a cardiac arrest. Extensive efforts were made to resuscitate the patient and he was taken to hospital." Staff on standby at the international match were on the scene within three minutes, the spokesman said. Police believe they have identified the victim but await formal confirmation that all his next of kin have been informed. Officers from the Met's Homicide and Serious Crime Command are now investigating his death.
Totally wrong mate. Guy who died was punched from behind by a group of 6 North Walians - an account given by his mate who was with him at the time. He reckognised the scouse accents as they ran away after the incident. The lads that did it were then identified by CCTV and picked out inside the ground in the welsh end. Police have been on to Cardiff websites this morning to stress that it was definately not a Swansea fan - and not having a go at them here but it doesn't surprise me because not many of them follow Wales tbh. RIP Mikey Dye
Absolutely terrible. To go to a football match and never come home is just terrbile and I really feel for his friends and family.
Bluebird, if that is the account to what happened, I’ll put my hands up & say I got it wrong & apologies to Swansea & Cardiff supporters. It just shows you cannot believe every tale you hear.
No probs mate. That is whats being said at the moment, I'm sure the truth will find its way out in due course. It was inevitable that people jumped to conclusions, when I heard it was a 6 on 2 attack that was my first thought tbh And in fact, when it was pointed out that it definately wasn't swansea fans, I thought it was probably an arguement between mates that had been on the lash all day - never occurred to me about the Gogs, always get on great with them on Wales trips.
The invading army mentality has come unstuck......... Behaviour seen at Wembley when we were there with them confirms that the Welsh fans think they are invading another country when they step over the bourder into England .........I saw the Cardiff fans at Wembley........the vast majority of them were there just to cause trouble no matter who was invloved; women, kids and just ordinary fans were subjected to terrble behaviour from these cowards
Re: The invading army mentality has come unstuck......... Witnessed just that at semi-final. Down Baker Street, they were urinating in the street and vast majority were hell bent on causing trouble. Heard stories of women and kids getting attacked as they disembarked their coaches. Like you said..you got the feeling they were 'invading'.
Re: The invading army mentality has come unstuck......... The "VAST MAJORITY"? I must have seen a minority then because we were in a Wetherspoons in Baker Street that was packed with Cardiff fans, just 5 of us and another group of 5 or 6 Barnsley fans, but no trouble. didn't see any trouble on tube before or after the game nor any around the stadium.
Re: I knew Eaststander would back me up on this one......... Can't see I saw any trouble at wembley and I travelled in on the tube and had a drink in the hotel by the station. I walked all the around the ground among the cardiff fans and nothing was said. It's always a stupid minority never the majority
Re: I knew Eaststander would back me up on this one......... Lads, a man has died leaving behind a wife, kids, family and friends that cherish the memory of him. Is a little respect too much to ask for instead of hijacking a thread?
We had this coversation years ago.........but here goes I saw this..... Pub emptied and confrontation with London Tykes who were on a bus........i.e. shouting aggresive abuse and kicking the bus On tube loads of aggression against Barnsley fans who most of which were familys Guys smashing through queues outside of ground.........again Barnsley women and kids After the game coins being thrown from ramps coming out of the ground........again into Barnsley familys with women and kids Full bottles and cans being thrown at Barnsley coaches going out of Wembley.........there were kids and women sat at windows that these missles were thrown at I saw one confrontation with Cardiff fans actually taking on similar types from Barnsley, and the Barnsley lads had scattered them and took their welsh flags which they were burning in a side road near Wembley Barnsley saw that game as a family day out...........Cardiff fans thought it was a day to invade a bigger and better foreign country
Re: We had this coversation years ago.........but here goes As I pointed out and I'll repeat it again I saw nothing - and again I'll repeat the fact it would have been the minority causing the trouble and not the majority.
Re: I knew Eaststander would back me up on this one......... Youve been using this site long enough to know that certain people always hijack threads to have the final word to try and be right. A post of mine last week was taken so far off topic it should have had it's on post title.
Re: We had this coversation years ago.........but here goes Another prime example why people shouldn't eat cheese before bedtime.
