Is it right that the lads all stay in a hotel, the night before a HOME game? What happened to driving into work, or aren't they trusted to get in on time or not go on the **** Fridays? Have they always done it?
They used to do it when Spackman was Manager. I personally think it's a shocking waste of funding TBH, the Prem clubs do it, but we're not a Prem club and I honestly think that the money could be spent better elsewhere. It's not cheap to put a football squad and management up for B and B. If true I am very surprised that Hillcroft have chosen to spend the budget as such.
I'd be absolutely staggered if that was true. We havent got a pot to pi$$ in so who would sanction this waste of money?
Re: Is that true? A Leicester fan tweeted it last night. Must have been staying in same hotel. Jay Mac also tweeted a pic of him, O'Brien and Rob Edwards? watching a horror movie together. http://yfrog.com/gz2txaowj
the players would have paid for that wizz. a lot of them listed live in lancs. foster normally comes over too.
every team does it if the players live miles away and im actally quite happy about it. it shows there preparing properly. how many good earners do you know who will go from home to a meeting if they need to go far?
Players choose to live miles away, they should pay for it themselves I remember under Allan Clarke insisted players lived within a certain radius of Barnsley, bit harsh I know. In these days of costcutting etc you would think the club would avoid expenses like Hotel bills for home games. Still the cat A matches prices might cover this eh.
If you ever manage to get a job hemmsy you'll realise that most companies... Will put their people up in hotels and meet their travel costs when they travel away from their normal place of work, but are expected to meet all travel costs when working at their normal place of work regardless of where they live. If the players choose to live outside the area why should the club ***** foot round them?
Most high earners I know live within a reasonable commute to where they work. Infact most people I know who work live within a easy commute. If players want to live three hours drive away then they pay for their own hotel. What's sixty quid from five grand.
Re: If you ever manage to get a job hemmsy you'll realise that most companies... Perhaps it was a condition for them signing for Barnsley that the club put them up in a hotel the night before home games?
Re: If you ever manage to get a job hemmsy you'll realise that most companies... Peesing my season ticket money up the wall if true
How on earth do you think that? "Right lads, we're all staying at Brooklands. Compulsary. Team bonding, so it's a night away from your wife/ girlfriend/ families, oh and by the way you're paying." If this is a one off, I'd think well, ok but as a routine a total waste.
Sent a message to guy who tweeted and his reply was that it was full squad, not just a couple of players. Put in perspective though, they're on £000's a week. I know the England U21's stayed at Brookland / Holiday Inn at Dodworth. Took out the entire 5th floor, with some rooms converted to massage and kit rooms.
Re: If you ever manage to get a job hemmsy you'll realise that most companies... If it is then someone at the club wants ****ing. You won't sign for villa unless you live in an hours drive away. And they have got shut of Luke young cos he wouldn't move as an example. If I told my boss I would only take the job if I got a hotel once a week I would get laughed out the room
Disgraceful Yet another example of the club deliberately setting out to alienate its supporters. Although if they've been at the mini bar that explains the home performances.
