Another very assured performance. Can't be blamed for the goal, and he seems to have really improved in terms of claiming crosses under pressure.

A great keeper, but all the team were excellent.

Agreed, he just looks so assured these days. Top keeper.

Still a few years away from his peak, will get better and better, and already is a very good GK. He has got the odd rick on him, but a lot of keepers do. Schmeichel jnr certainly does.

Agreed, I've always rated him and thought that on his day he's as good as any keeper in the championship. We're getting to see these days more and more often.

Never been a fan of his because of his abysmal distribution. We used to lose more possession from him then any othert player on the pitch. The new coaching regime looks to be paying dividends as his distribution yesterday was very much improved. One of the reasons why Gray had a good game today was the distribution from Steele. Long may this continue.

I thought he was better than big Heinz

Got criticised on here for it. Stand by my opinion though. Great keeper, although he makes mistakes, like all keepers do. All players make mistakes, but usually get away with it. Keepers usually don't.

I still think Muller is the best goalkeeper I've ever seen play for Barnsley, in my opinion. Having said that, I believe Steele has never played better for us than he's doing now. His catching of crosses, organising the defence, commanding his area and willingness to start counter attacks has never been better.
Well done, Luke. Keep up the good work.

What about Pierce Kev?. Muller reminded me a bit of him. Think over the years we've been blessed with some quality keepers. I think Steele has got enormous potential. Think he set himself a very high benchmark with the unbelievable debut he had for us. Think our expectations wained when the unforced errors crept into his game.

Difficult to judge because of Heinz's injury

He was never the same when he came back, in my opinion.

Still, I'd be very happy with either of them. Both very good keepers.

I agree that Luke is playing out of his skin at the moment, and as you say long may that continue.

Pierce is probably my third favourite Reds' goalkeeper, after Muller & Gerry Stewart.
As with all 'keepers, Steele has made errors. But, again as with all 'keepers, he's getting better with age.

    Clive Baker

Suffered because of his size but still a great keeper for us.

His awareness of potential attacking options when he has hold of the ball and his general game are of a high standard at the moment. I would imagine his confidence and self belief has never been greater. I like the lad and feel he can get even better.

Muller, definitely the best for me. Always thought that Steele was a good shotstopper, but like I said before his distribution was very poor and we nearly always ended up on the back foot. Some of the improvement as got to be down to the new coaching regime.

    Re: Clive Baker

On reflection, in the past I was never Baker's greatest fan because of his size. But, as I've got older, I have a greater level of respect for some of our players from earlier eras and look upon them in a different, more appreciative, light. Clive Baker is one such player.

    Re: Clive Baker

Wouldn't argue with that, mate. Unfortunately, his size counted against him when commanding his area and being able to take crosses. In the grand scheme of things, that didn't matter too much because of the quality of defenders he had in front of him during his time here. Players like Paul Futcher, Larry May, Stuart Gray, Malcolm Shotton, Mark Smith, Carl Tiler, Gerry Taggart, Gary Fleming.
    Just my opinion.

Can't argue with that summary Kev. Just look at those defenders. Wished we'd got any combination of em now. All class acts. Futcher has always been one of my top ten footballers. Proper football brain
