The Rams are welcome to him now, he was a big player in a little pond with us. Now he a average player in a average team.

whether I thought it was a penalty is not relevant. The referee made the call and gave it. The more I see shackell in various highlights and games I get more and more convinced we got a good deal for him rather than getting our cocks pulled.
Although he was a good player for the club in his season here without the rose tinted specs on I don't think he is all that and there are players out there and within the squad to get at him as a weak point.

You did Phil, you stated on here that Shackell was one of the best centre halves in the country, then you re-evaluated your opinion to him being one of the best in the championship.

Re: shackell is a million miles better than any centre half we have

Well, the "facts" so far would appear to at least suggest otherwise - played six games, only six conceded, and apart from the Middlesborough debacle not more than one in any game. Two clean sheets out of three on the road. Last season with Shackell at the heart of our defence we shipped 66 goals. Now, I haven't seen us play yet this season, so I'm just going on the information available to me, but it would seem that this season we are defensively much more solid than last.

Well the first one was never a penalty in a million years and the second goal came from the rest of his team not reacting to the 2nd ball, so I'd say thats a load of nonsense.

I'd swap anyone in our squad to have him back.

Shackell is as much over-rated as Foster is under-rated, not fact but my opinion

Really? He wasn't that good. A decent Championship CB, no more. Edwards is as good a player, and has the same sort of pedigree.
