free of charge to ask supporters to put them up in their workplaces etc and ask local shops and bars to put them up.

Would 1,000 posters around barnsley and the surrounding area bring in more than 8 extra fans (cat C) or 4 extra fans (cat A)? I reckon it would so why don't BFC do this? The idea has been suggested and dismissed before.

As part of my job, I work with communities and visit lots of community venues and groups and do a lot of walking around S.Yorkshire.
I e-mailed the club to see if they wanted any help in putting up posters (they've made one for the Watford match) around Barnsley this week and they got back to me straight away saying it'd be a big help. I'm going down to Oakwell to pick up a load tomorrow morning so when I'm on my travels I can put up in community venues, shops, pubs, drop through a few doors etc.. so if you ask, I'm sure they'll give you some.

I think thats what we should be doing though. We can all help even if it's just a small idea.

The club is run on an absolute shoe-string, we all know that. The more ideas we can come up with as fans the better off we'll all be. The club genuinely don't have the capacity these days

I agree with what you are saying and in the spirit of BarnsleyJames's post Im wondering what us fans can do to push this game and possibly give the club some food for thought re prices. Is this something we can get behind?

See my sticky post which I'm going to copy below for some ideas of how we might do this to start with. Can we get the message across? Perhaps even in the press / radio etc? Has anyone got the appetite for this?

Many fans are saying that the CAT A £30 price are impacting gates at Barnsley this season.

The club have said cheap tickets does not bring in more fans

    CAN WE PROVE THEM WRONG?

    • What can WE do to prove that this is the case and help swell the gate on Saturday? Clearly fans need to know that the game is priced at £16/£11/£5
    Some ways to promote this:
    • Facebook status - change your profile image to one of these images below.
    • Email the image to all your Barnsley Supporting Mates and let them know
    • Use the image in your email signature.
    • Print out one of the posters for Saturday and put it up in your Work/Shop Windows/Pubs etc etc [IMG] watford_poster.pdf (3.39 MB, 0 views)
    • Let all your mates/neighbours know and drag them along kicking and screaming ;)
Reply to this is you have an idea or suggestion!!

as i said in an earlier thread Paul, id be doing my bit..
ive already managed to convince a few mates to get down on setdi.
i tweeted Football Heaven on radio deedar earlier, informing them of the prices, the game was CAT C, and to come and cheer on Hillcrofts lads to victory. i had to wait until the bleeding end, but Andy Giddens eventually read it out on air. so that was free advertising of sorts. ill be doing it every nite this week until they cotton on to my blatant marketing! lol
but im also going to fone the show for the 1st time ever 1 day this week, and again, get the info out there.
and im also going to email the Chronicle, and hopefully Lodgey will publish it in the letters page..
    thats about it.
i cant think of owt else.
we HAVE to try and do sumat. but i fear it will be pointless, and around 10k is what we will see, AGAIN.
which will just reinforce the clubs stance..

Good stuff mate. This is what I'm talking about. Get enough of us emailing and phoning Radio Sheffield. Try and make it into a bit of a story and get the Chronicle/ Yorkshire Post etc involved.

I've been on to Bruce Dyer and asked him if he will promote this via his Facebook page. Hoping he will do as we've tried to help him with his soccer projects in the past. I wonder if Sir Bobby might help?

ST I reckon you're spot on. A very small investment that I believe would pay off with extra fans. As I said in another post the best marketing tool the club has is the fans.
