Does anyone believe there is one? Or a more supreme being than themselves? I personally don't but always nice to get others perspectives on things.
I'm sure this was a post on the old BBS and it went on for ever - I'm with Neil from Inbetweeners on this who believed in God until he realised it was just dog spelt backwards
Yes i do believe that there is a God. How would we have been able to sign Glavin without God`s help? One of these statements is a joke the other I truely believe. I am not going to start preaching or even giving any reasons for my beliefs, it only becomes a tool for others to try and ridicule . Each to their own .
Yes, i believe in God. I was brought up in a christian home, 5th generation Salvation Army. You would have no doubt seen me carolling in the town center during the 70s and early eighties.
No. The arguments in the link below explain much better than I ever could. My best friend at uni was a Catholic and we would debate the existence of God for hours and hours. The one argument he always struggled to find an answer to was if there is a God then why does he let bad things happen to good people. He was probably the best person I'd ever met and he was tragically killed in a traffic accident two years ago last month. To me, I can't accept the existence of a single being, who is all powerful, that would allow that to happen. Similarly, any God that would deny me entrance to heaven becuase I didn't believe in their existence isn't the kind of compassionate or redemptive God I'd want to believe in. http://www.newstatesman.com/religion/2011/07/god-evidence-believe-world
Given the size of this universe and the size of infinity, to believe that we are the supreme power I believe is a little naive. I don't necessarily believe in the God as portrayed here on earth. To accept the basic argument that God is basically Good, so if we all do GOOD we are doing Gods work is too simplistic... I think a more challenging question is is there an after life.. where does this thing(spirit) within this carcase called a body go to when the body dies....??????
Ha ha, well I refer you to my point above! If I was going to chose a God I wouldn't want a vengeful one
Re: God's not dead I personally don't believe in God, but I would never be so arrogant to belittle somebody who does. Who am I to say whether there is or isn't?
Yes there was that film with Him in Black bloke, white suit, walked on water, made Jim Carrey suffer for a bit - hence proof that he does exist. 'Free Will' apparently is the answer to all those that ask about bad things that happen. Not Free Willy.
I have no reason to not believe there is a God. However, I have seen no evidence to suggest to me there is a God. Science has gone a long way to disproving many religious beliefs about creation and the origin of man. However, I would like to think there is a God behind everything. I just need some evidence to make me believe.
A Buddhist saying... God is not what God is.... if you can find out who you actually are..?..now that would be something.... Here's a question you can contemplate.... Where were you before your mother was born.....?
Have a little peep at this ML... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qj_i7YqDwJA H H The Dalai Lama has done a lot of work with sciene over the past 20 years....
