I've thought for a while now that at both the pre match and post match interviews, the questions asked of Hill by the Radio Sheffield interviewer have been deliberately inflammatory, especially trying to exploit a fan/ manager divide.

An example being, after Saturdays match one of the questions was " what do you say to the fans who say you should play two up front" this obviously annoyed KH.....and he went into a bit of a rant!

There was no need for the question, as the Reds had created plenty of chances and had delivered the best performance of the season, but they knew they would get a typical bullish response.

Tonight, when I tuned into radio league one at 6 40, the approx time they let the Barnsley fans on! A reds fan was giving his opinion ( the host wasn't really listening ) then the fan was asked what do you think of KH..........then they played KH's rant about us not having any success over the last 10 years.

It was taken out of context , and clearly used to provoke more fan/ manager antagonism!

Are Radio Sheffield trying to undermine our Club?

Totally agree, I have been thinking the same for about a week now. I think radio ****field have picked up on the minority of fans who are up in arms about the things Hill says and they are on a mission to make mischief. It feels as though they manufacture the interviews to get Hill saying what he says. They are asking loaded questions knowing exactly how he will answer and exactly what the reaction of some fans will be.
The way Andy Giddings led the caller into the interview tonight told it's own story, he asked the caller what he thought of Hill and said here is the latest installment in a way that suggests we have become the radio ****field soap opera.

I sort of expect this from Seth but I thought better of Andy. I know he follows a script and a schedule but the lead in was so obvious tonight.

Minority? How do you work that one out?

You've absolutely no way of knowing how many people are disgruntled with "the king of soundbites" pontifications in the media.

By the way, before you say it, neither have I.

No you're right I don't know. I was basing my assumption entirely on what I read on here. Is this BBS a scientific measure of the opinions of Barnsley fans? I don't know for sure but I get the impression that the majority, albeit a small majority, don't have a problem with what he says.

When fans of other clubs ask me why our manager is being a complete arse, it sort of confirms my own opinion that he is. I've a feeling a lot more contributors to this board feel the same but are somewhat reluctant to step forward and say so. Time will tell.

I work with a Rochdale fan and he described this exactly when Hill first came to us so I'm not suprised at all. So far Hill hasn't said anything that has bothered me and I do wonder why some are getting so upset but again the bloke I work with said he will divide opinion. If we carry on playing like we did on Saturday I guess nobody will worry about what he is saying, much to the annoyance of radio ****field.

Re: Minority? How do you work that one out?

I was asked today by 2 Sheffield fans(1 of each) why Hill was trying to upset the Barnsley fans? When he should be uniting them against all others!
IU told them I had not got the foggiest, but the fans will be here a lot longer than Hill, when he has gone onto other clubs to pad out his CV.
He says things just to get a reaction a bit like H?T and theerev do.

No, when I post something I mean it, I dont say it just to wind people up.
I may upset some people, but that is the way I am, but unless you are a football manager , saying it as you see it is apparently wrong.

Re: Minority? How do you work that one out?

On Saturday driving home from the game I was full of enthusiasm and ready to heap praise on the manager when I was next online, that was until I heard him on the radio make yet another massive PR gaff. Instead of saying to the fans, "there you are boys and girls, that's how I can get the team to play and that's what they can do when you get behind them, lets keep it going and get your mates down next week" He chose to show he really bears a grudge about early criticism and just can't let it drop.
Not sure if he's being this bizarre for self publicity (aka cloughy or mourhino) or whether he just can't grasp the way he's dividing opinion amongst fans, but ultimately the team (not keith hill) need all the fans behind them, so he should be trying to build a rapport with us all.

    Course they are

Lad on Saturday pulled them up about playing only Leicester's goal and they gave some bull about it being the result maker or something and that was the first replay after the game....then played it again in the 6pm highlights.

They're becoming a bit of a joke imho, it seems to have got worse since Utd's relegation, the amount of focus on the 2 Sheffield clubs - the whole Hume incident was poor from them and how dismissive they were of us as a club, and it's just continued since. They think they've struck gold with KH and his interviews...think it'll come back and bite them on the arse if they carry on ignoring how we play (assuming we keep Saturday's standard up) because if he's got a problem with the interview reckon he'll have a go.

    All good fun & theatre.

I feel the same as you

But have decided speaking up against what Hill says doesn't do any good.

I really enjoyed the game on Saturday. I thought it was an excellent performance, even if we didn't manage the victory. So I'm going to concentrate on that rather than what Keith Hill says, though I must admit I felt like having a right rant.

I've now got him on the "ignore" button on the car radio

Automatically turns off anytime anyone comes on radio sheffield with even the vaguest Lancashire accent. Saves me from road rage and kicking the cat

Radio League 1 - like it.

Somebody should call Praise or Grumble on saturday and start by saying "This is the first time I've rung Radio League 1.......".

Personally can't see what the problem is with one up front - loads of teams do it - certainly didn't stop us attacking

They were even at it on Tobys show this morning. Around five past 8 when Toby and news guy were having a chat about things in general, the news guy made reference to KH doesnt care what the fans think, and toby joined in. TBH was surprised at Tobys response, but i'm quickly going off him also.

Getting really fed up with RS at the moment. Also didnt like how they kept whipping up all the speculation about ALF before his move, so maybe it isnt just us that they have it in for.

Every time we go to a match i always listen to RS whilst my teenager whinges about wanting to listen to Galaxy/Capital. Think i might let him have his way in future cos RS is doing my head in. Took the biscuit on Satursday when they kept playing the commentary of Leicesters goal. I am sure in the past that if Sheff U got hammered say 3-1 they would play the solitary Sheff U goal.

Last time we had a falling out, I missed the RS coverage, but maybe no coverage is better than biased coverage trying to create a rift between the fans and management, or leading questions only asked to provoke a heated reply from KH

I hope he does give them a piece of his mind when live on air so it can't be edited out. I can live without RS. I don't mind Paul Walker (listenend to him ever since he was on radio hallam breakfast show) but cant stand Seth, Giddings, or the new guy (Staton or something).

I will be listening Whitey and I am very close to calling in myself - I am just sick of the Sheffiled bias. How many times have the dee dars been the main game (on FM) now? They are supposed to represent the whole region - the last time I looked the license fee was the same here (and in Doncaster, Rotherham, etc) as it is in ****field. Two championship clubs being treated like also rans by them. Rip into them Whitey and also get them told about these loaded questions they are asking Hill just to get a reaction.
