first of all, your 2 ideas are very good.

Secondly would the club sit down and talk to the likes of yourself , Owen (think he still posts on here) and other fans?

If the club would who would that be in your opinion, DR?, Mark stokes? Barry Taylor?

Well the Trust have regular meetings with the club HT. This is usually with Don Rowing and may involve other members of club staff depending on the agenda. We've met with Rachel and Mark in the last few months for example with regards the openday. The next one is on September 21st and I'd like to attend it and talk about prices.

That said, Wolves do a fans parliament where representatives of all the different supporters organisations meet several times a year with a selection of club staff. I think that's a belter of an idea personally. Also The Trust have to work on engaging more Barnsley fans in my opinion.

Also it's not like there isn't other regular dialogue with the club. The posters and Facebook pictures have come from the football club trying to Market this game.

mentioned hi because as a fan, i wouldn't give him the time of day

and i don't think he would vice versa. in fact i can't think of anyone currently at the club, who the fans can look to and think they will listen to them.

Would there be any chance of getting someone like Barry Taylor or maybe even try and get Mr cyrne (i understand there would be more chance of winning the lottery) because even if Mr cryne put a statement out that they are looking at it that would look better for the fans.

Some fans don't trust DR at for one reason or another.

I'm surprised the club don't do their own marketing,leafleting,posters....I'm sure Keith Hill will put a sandwich board on and walk round town ringing a bell shouting 'You are all deluded sh.ite fans of a little over achieving club.... but its only £16 this week '...:D

Check out the front page of the Independant.
The club have made leaflets available to people to today to put up in town. All the art work in the post above has come from the club and the work they've been doing on facebook/twitter etc etc
We probably rely a lot on electonic marketing but its more cost effective these days. THis isnt about the club not martketing the game. THey are. They do. It's about the challenge that cheaper prices dont get more fans through the turnstyles. We think pricing is an issues this season. Let's prove it!

I disagree I don't think the club are promoting or marketing the game at all. Waiting for fans to complain and suggest posters and then making a few and letting fans drive to oakwell to pick them up if they want to and if they happen to know about it (which isnt very likely) isn't marketing the game for me.

If the club were pro-active about marketing the game they would have come up with the posters on their own. THEY would be out in Barnsley town centre asking local businesses if they would mind putting a poster up and they would be listening to what their customers are asking for on matchdays instead of constantly ignoring requests and saying things are nothing to do with them.

If they spent half the time and effort trying to market the game to the average fan as they have spent trying to ram Preedys down our throats over the last year or so then they'd be seeing the benefit now instead of being forced into sorting posters out a few DAYS before a fixture that was announced months ago.

    Just my opinion

Send me a copy too. Not delivered in Wakefield.

Wakefield Wildcats stick posters, leaflets all over the city, I see them on lamp post all around here, They have a couple of trailers too that get moved around each day to different places, before every match the vast majority of the city is covered, maybe not all of it before H.T says they dont do Hemsworth.

Fair enough, but on a general point about advertising and promotion, I don't see many posters or leaflets about.I come into Barnsley quite a bit and there isn't any sign of BFC promotion to me. I've had Wildcats leaflets and adverts through the door and put in my hand in the precinct in Wakefield. Maybe they could (if they don't already) get a work placement student doing Sports Management or Advertising to freshen things up a bit on the promotions front, do Barnsley or Huddersfield Uni do related degrees?. get some of the Academy players handing leaflets out in town or summat. Maybe they do all these things already ?

Thing is for me the club has missed a trick with wakefield and quite possibly sheffield as well.

It's hardly a fair comparison comparing attendances this Saturday to previous games unless they're going to take into consideration the opposition and attractiveness of the game.

For example, if we got the same number of home fans on Saturday as we did for Leicester then, to an extent, this would reflect an improved attendance IMO, as the Leicester fixture is a far more attractive one out of the two. The true comparison would be to the same fixture, charged at £30, which is an unknown quantity, but would undoubtedly be less than the 8,700 or so for the Leicester game.

Personally, at £30, I think the Watford game would do well to get 7,500 home fans (not sure what the final number of season ticket holders would be within this). Consequently, something approaching 9,000 would demonstrate a difference due to price (although no doubt the Club won't view it this way).
