well its nonsense as far as I can see. Obviously the ST holders get the benefit over the season, and rightly so. This is reward for stumping up/showing faith etc. IMHO the matchday tickets should only be a maximum of £5 above that of a season tickets average per match. Some special offers are always going to bring in more. If there was to be any sort of a bigger increase then that would only be justified in my eyes for matches such as local derbies, and maybe a big BIG fish in the cup...IE Chelsea a year or two ago. If the club want to get bums on seats and also encourage a new crop of younger fans then they need to look at the whole thing. The Manager is spouting how we are not well off and should take a reality check on expectations..then maybe the club should do a likewise reality check too. We are not a huge club we have not a huge catchment area either, when consider how many teams are in the locale. If we want to fill a stadium and creat atmosphere which will lift the players then they need to wake up and smell the coffee.
We had a Chairman/owner down here about 20 years ago who introduced a pricing policy whereby you paid an admission price relative to your league position. He was a marketing man basically and had no interest in football - but he did have an interest in putting bums on seats. Think it was about £4/5 difference between top & bottom - which was a more significant sum in those days. You're then encouraging fans to come through lower pricing if you're struggling in the table or charging them top whack when you're higher. Win, win as far as I can see and I would have thought more clubs would adopt that policy tbh.
true enough if that atmosphere can be created, however it always seems to me to be something of a vicious circle: we don't have much money as a club that is a given, this means that we are tempted to charge more money for tickets, this is not helped by the fact that when we reduce ticket prices crowds don't increase, as has been the theme on here in recent days this may be the result of a lack of promotion but since we are already looking at less income from tickets it seems we can't afford to risk more money on extensive promotion and so the situation can't change.
this is where the supporters come in Gally is trying his best to get the fans on here to promote it by word of mouth, posting flyers etc. So where is the official Supporters club then...not heard owt from them have we. The club wants the fans "on Board" so to speak, then give them a chance to get involved. Seems to me the official suporters lot and the club are keeping tight lipped.
Er GALLY and hicksie are members of trust board, the trust board have agreed to fund the flyers and are helping to distribute. We sent our weekly newsletter out supporting the campaign to get more people down to oakwell on Saturday and asking them to help. The advert for the game have been on trust website since Sunday as well as on our Facebook and twitter feeds. We also have articles on this on website Hardly doing nothing but feel free to have a pop at us. I take it then we will see you at the game Owen
