This is something I feel really passionate about- we can make a real difference if we try.

Further to Gally's previous posts, we have the opportunity to prove to the club that price does matter, and at the same time get a bumper crowd in to Oakwell on Saturday to shout for the Reds. The club have given us a great opportunity with the £16 deal which should be applauded- but it'll mean nothing with another 10,000 gate.

As you'll know we're getting flyers printed - thanks to everyone who has volunteered to help hand them out so far.

I think one thing that would make a big difference would be to hand the flyers out in pubs around Barnsley and surrounding areas on FRIDAY night, so people having their social pre-weekend pint can see them and plan the rest of their weekend - watching the Reds for £16!

I am thinking Pubs, Clubs, Bars etc for this one- putting the flyers on tables and on the bar (with the landlords permission obviously).

I live in Redbrook and I can cover all pubs in Staincross, Mapp, Kek, Barugh Green, Darton, Redbrook and Poggy, possibly town also.

What I need is a few people who would be willing to do the same in their local area.

Main areas that could be covered:

    Town
    Penistone
    Wombwell
    Cawthorne
    Stainborough
    Cudworth
    Darfield
    Ardsley
    Athersley
    Dodworth
    Elsecar
    Lundwood
    Monk Bretton

There could be more- if anyone can cover other areas let me know.

Just PM me your contact details and we can arrange to meet in Friday and hand over the flyers.

Not asking for much time here, just a few trips to pubs near you, dropping off the flyers - you could even have a pint as you go!

This is something the club really CAN'T do, they just don't have the time or staff to do this. As fans, we need to help out as much as we can and help the club to get Oakwell packed again!

"Evil"? And Fired was labelled "self-righteous" the other day too. Not sure I can handle this. I'm going into a corner to cry.

    What a crock of sh*t!

This is something the club don't have the staff to do?

Sorry mate, but the fact that fans are having to unite to get people through the turnstyles is ridiculous.

Paying a PR company to do a letter drop on certain post codes costs around a tenth of Gary O'Connor's weekly wage, and you'd see a damn site more return for your money (other than the 5-2 scum bashing, Sir Garry O'C that week).

The work people are doing is fantastic, but I can't see why they're having to do it. £16 isn't exactly cheap, it's just a lot cheaper than £30, so on a 15k crowd the club should be able to invest a grand in to a letter drop.

It costs nothing to buy a couple of billboards on bus stops as well, they could have been reserved weeks ago with this in mind and been up all week.

Re: What a crock of sh*t!

    Seconded.

My problem with all this is that either way, the club are getting something for nothing. If only 10,000 turn up Saturday they can sit there and, quite rightly, say that the current pricing structure is fine as it is.

If 20,000 turn up, they get the extra dollar and interest generated. All by doing nothing.

    Lazy and unprofessional.

    Yours,
    Supertyke MKII

On board with you. Two sides to this

Barnsley fans/community working together for the greater success of the club, in their own time - superb

Barnsley FC not willing to spend a couple of grand on marketing - absolutely ******* abysmal!

    'on board with you'.

I just wish the club thought 'out of the box' and 'touched base' with the fans on a more regular basis.

    Just as an example

I paid our PR Company just shy of £750 to flyer drop to every house within three post codes to a pub in Glasgow.

Fair enough, you'd want to stretch further than three post codes from Oakwell, but you wouldn't double the cost.

I reckon for close to £2k you could have posted a flyer to everyone in Barnsley.

Get an extra 5,000 on the gate and you've got maximum additional profit of £80k plus club shop, programmes, and catering purchases. (obviously minus any additional stewarding costs, etc.)

Speculate to accumulate, and get those people coming back more often for incremental business.
