"It's easy to read something the way you want it to read" You're right, it is. Isn't that what you've just done?
Re: You could well be right I honestly see his comments as nothing more than a storm in a teacup. The bigger picture is that most of the new players seem to be settling in very well, there's been an upturn in the performances of the already established players and the quality of football is as good as any we've seen since promotion in 2006 (and better than most). The trivial & insignificant appears to matter more, though, which I simply can't understand.
Re: "It's easy to read something the way you want it to read" The interview i read said "I'm not here to make friends with everybody. Can't help but agree with that, personally.
Re: "It's easy to read something the way you want it to read" Yes but i'm not the one that's got hold of the wrong end of the stick ;o).
I imagine it was a quote in direct response to being asked about the argument with the fan which in that context has some validity. However, Simon Davey's undoing was ultimately his unpopularity amongst the fans. His record was actually quite good yet some fans derided him as the worst manager in our history. This was seemingly down to his inability to forge a positive relationship with the fans. In terms of Hill, I think his current course is ill-advised. That said I am prepared to forgive him it given that I genuinely believe he will not waiver on his demand that we play a short passing game. I'd much rather have that than a manager who tells me I am King of the World when his teams are lumping it up front every game. For what its worth I also agreed with him after the Middlesborough game, the atmosphere was shocking and it did transmit to the players. Ultimtately though, it will boil down to perfromances on the pitch and if we keep trying to play the football we are doing at the moment and we turn that in to results he will be loved and he will love the fans back. If he doesn't get results his attitude iwll bring about his demise quicker. Hopefully it is the former.
Re: He waved at the Ponty in a friendly manner Typical negative response. So he gets no credit all for his choice of jacket on Saturday ? Country Life-esque.
Re: He waved at the Ponty in a friendly manner How many on here like their bosses? Does everyone at your places of work like their bosses? Would your boss just cower and run away if you started to abuse him/her? Management are not there to be liked, they are there to get results at any cost. If they don't they generally get the sack. There are a lot of people on here that should take a look at themselves, if Hill has hurt your feelings then join the f*in wimp club, or go crying to your missus. But please keep the moaning/crying/hurt feelings crap off this site and away from Barnsley FC.
I thought nudger had moved to ESL.... although it sounds like one of his antics. Perhaps he was trying to get Hill and Flitcroft to help him take the away end, in a 1970's hooligan-esqe stylee
and when the manager of the local cinema tells his customers similar sorts of things. 3 months later he ends up wondering why the customers have stopped going or have started using other cinemas just down the road.
Re: You could well be right Hill didnt show much patience to the fan who abused him, he quite clearly told him to shut the f*** up at least twice before flitcroft waded in with another round, those two are certainly not going to be messed around maybe they are just what we need.
Re: You could well be right Sorry mate but it is not what I need and I seriously worry about people if they need to be abused at a football match.
Sorry when did we meet? How on earth do you come up with a statement like that? If you ever do meet me you will find I am more than able to take anything dished out, but I do not believe that Mr Hill is of the same ilk!!!
