That was the only thing I wondered - I couldn't work out whether it was a goal kick or if a freekick had been given for something.

Based on the reaction of our players, they thought it was a dead ball, so it was pretty bizarre.

So ignoring that, I'm hoping you've got some rare positives about the performance and victory? ;)

Pretty certain you cant be offside from a goalkick. And watching the Linesman explaining to Gray afterwards i think he may have thought it was a free kick rather than a goalkick. So Refs fault for not over ruling him.....

We were all puzzled by that too. Everyone thought it was a goal kick that was given.

    Didn't know this?

"A goal may be scored directly from a goal kick, but only against the opposing team. An own goal may not be scored from a goal kick; should the ball happen to land directly into the own goal, a corner kick is awarded to the opposing team."

That actually happened to me once

I was playing in goal, took a goal kick, ball went out of the area and then blew back over my head into the goal. All hell broke loose, ref correctly gave a corner.

Funny thing was the guy taking the corner forgot to allow for the wind. The ball landed about 50 yards behind the goal in another field.
