dont worry about it mate, we are more than holding our own infact for the first real time since we got promoted we are actually competing in this league.

as long as "we" the paying barnsley punter are happy with our performances whats it matter what oposing fans think

Come on Phillip the performance yesterday was hardly flawless. Coventry could consider themselves unlucky to go in one nil down at half time.

Don't worry about it Phil; we weren't at our best yesterday but we were still too good for a sh.it Coventry side who will be in or around the bottom three at the end of the season.

i dont think steele was too busy dt.

1 top save, thats it really in terms shot stopping.

we played well, i think we had 15 plus shots to 5, 65% of ball.

i thought the reds played well and only slowed because of the baking heat.

I hope more go away saying we are a poor team too

it means the rest will come here all complacent and cocky..and get the smirks wiped off their faces. We are not a poor team...just been poor at finishing...yesterday that started to change. Also they say that mark of a good team is if they play bad and still get results.I also add that our away form has been a breath of fresh air from previous seasons...we have lost to two of the front runners and tamed a few of the bookies top tips...let them all keep on believing we are poor....pride always comes before a fall...and Coventry are midlands version of the DeeDahs (take yer pick which one) Fur Coat No Knickers.

just to add...we have lost only 2 league games ..to 2 of the front runners

I am well happy at where we are..Yes I got the hump and had a hissy fit earlier in the season..I am really embarrassed now by that. Way its going I think we will have our best finish since we got back to the championship. Maybe I also dsare to think of the top ten. If thats so then given that the league is closing in on the finacial running of clubs( break even rule) then that will in fact be a huge success.

have you seen the latest reply on there?

"No need to get all touchy, this is one of the poorest Cov sides for many years. Barnsely are no Barcelona, I expect a Coventry side to go to Barnsley and put up a decent performance, when you are comfortably beaten by Barnsley you know you have hit rock bottom."

Do they really believe that? I think in their deluded world a lot of fans of a lot of clubs do but there's no point getting up tight about it, as has been said in this thread the thing to do is send them home shocked and confused by what little old Barnsley just did to their big club, and bring on whoever's next for the same treatment.

They just sound like FANS OF ANY TEAM to me, I mean that is just what it has been like on here since I started coming on. Some of our fans believe that we are a big club and should not be losing to what they see as small clubs.
I see no difference to any other set of fans.

as I said a Midlands set of DEEDAHS

worked with a lot of people in my life all across UK...over 30 years for the RAF 22 in uniform... tend to get to know who are and who aint the snobs in football fans. I remember once when I was staioned at RAF Kinloss in Scotland, approx 25 miles east of iInverness. was in a pub , was totally chuffed and was celebrating with a fellow mate who was a Leeds fan(yes yes I know..but Gaz was also a true footy man ) he was made up for us getting to the "Promised Land" as it wer. This gut Ady comes in and asks what we where sooo ****ed up for..Gazza tells him we were celebrating My Barnsley..."Barnsley?".."Barnsley?" he says.... "but are they not in the £rd Division ?"....... he was a Northampton Town fan... OH MY GOD how much did we rip him up...for once Leeds Utd and Barnsley fans ..well 2 of us went in full tilt ..in fact Grant and Donny the owner and the barman (Rangers men) suddenly adopted an 'Ay Yup' stance and enjoyed the eveniings pleasures too..lol. Mate no matter what we do we just will never be en vogue, thats why when we did Liverpool and Chelsea it was totally MINT

Just shows that when Coventry don't resort to their usual rough arm tactics of recent years they've got nothing to fall back on.

For a Coventry fan to say we are poor really is the pot calling the kettle.

Got to love their fan's irony though.....singing "this town is a sh*thole, I want to go home"!!!

I have stayed there once or twice,as Forces mates invited me down once or twice.

basically I would say that Coventry is a poor...VERY POORmans Sheffield... now how disturbing is that.

Re: have you seen the latest reply on there?

I do see a difference. We are not a big club, in terms of past success we have only won one major trophy, that was 99 years ago and we have only had one season in the first division. Add to that our attendances which are some of the lowest in the league and our budget and yes we are a small team, that is a fact.

The problem is the fans of teams that are, or more properly, have been big teams with big attendances, budgets and success at any point in time seem completely unable to accept that they are now no better than us and that at home we rightly expect to dominate and win.

He had enough to do with collecting crosses and telling the full backs to wake up. Plenty of balls into the box but that's by the by now. Games finished clean sheet and three points.

Coventry aren't a big club though....all those years as a nothing team in the top flight and what did they have to show for it? As many trophies as we've won!

Re: have you seen the latest reply on there?

Coventry are no bigger than us, or Doncaster or Peterbro`, they have won as much as us.
Our fans are just the same as they are.

Edited to add, I should read all the thread before replying as Eaststander said very much the same.

Re: have you seen the latest reply on there?

fair point re. Cov not winning much but that my earlier post still stands; they still seem to think they ought to be in the top flight. Those nothing years are still a 'success' and it seems to make them think that their current situation is an absolute travesty, also due to being in the top flight they would have got bigger attendances than us, donny or peterborough so again it just seems to give them an inflated idea of themselves.
