The Rescue thought that a Staffie would be too problematic for me as I have no past experience with them. I was upset as I had really binded with Jasmine. I have been to the Rain Rescue - a fantastic Rescue at Wickersley, all volunteers who love the dogs to death, an amazing place. I have brought home a dog that's a little older 7 yrs who looks part Schnauser? I don't know if that's the correct spelling. She is lovely, walked lovely on the lead, did not cry when I left her and went upstairs - (I was listening for signs of separation anxiety,) she loves her snap but needs to lose a bit of weight and hubby has taken to her, so far so good. Tonight will be key, she responds to all the simple commands sit, stay, walkies etc, she is drinking a bit of water, now I know that's a sign of diabetes etc but it may just be in new surroundings as she spent a couple of nights in the Pound and was handed in from a home, (not a dog's home.) She will obviously be stressed and a bit anxious. It was the best feeling in the world having her laid at my feet this afternoon. She's a real bonny dog with a lovely temperament. I am hoping it all works out as I have her on trial for a few days. Her name is Lady. http://www.rainrescue.co.uk/Rain_Rescue/Dogs/Entries/2009/8/1_Lady_-_what_a_sweet_one_too.html
It is strange how people think about dogs and what breed may suit certain types of people.I am a regular dog walker at a rescue kennel.I walked 8 dogs this morning.I work down the list of names on a sheet they have to record which dogs have been walked. This morning Arnie was next on the list,Which is Arnie i asked the kennel lad.Next but one down,i went to the door of Arnies kennel. He was obviously named after that Arnie. He was massive even for a Rotweiler,i could not get the choker round his bull like neck. Not wishing to wrestle with Arnie ,i went for a larger one.So i set off with Arnie for his walk .I could not believe how easy he was to walk no pulling,no lunging, obeying all my commands. That dog was a pleasure to be with.Talk about giving a dog a bad name.Though I do think Arnie is a bad name.I have also walked dozens of staffys and had no problems at all.Bella the mad greyhound was a different story.I hope your new dog settles in well.
She looks a cracking dog. Neighbour where I grew up had Miniature Schnauzer, used to go walks with our dog no problem. Was a very friendly dog, Pepper. I am sure you will be very happy with her, and she with you. Must be hard for her leaving another home and family, sounds like she was well kept though.
She is lovely Tina. I'd love a dog but I'm out too much and it wouldn't be fair so I'll wait until my circumstances change.
