Re: Exactly Me or the reply? Blimey, I go to uni and civil war appears to break out. Predictably, I blame Jim Iley!
Dunno about you, but when I was a young un.. Probably around 12, I was allowed to go to oakwell with my mates. Even though we were in the 4th division and crowds were crap, there were loads of gangs of lads around the same age, spread all over the ground but mainly in the ponty. I just don't see those gangs of young lads anymore, despite the crowds being double/treble the size. Why? Here's an example When i was going to the last home game, walking over the crossin at the bus station, i passed some teenagers going in the other direction and overheard the conversation, "why are all those people wearing red shirts?" . Made me sick to the back teeth. that's what £12 entry and sky sports does for you
Sky Sports has killed the game we knew and in a lot of cases it has been permanent for a lot of people
You might be referring to me as I said our STs were great value and I stand by that comment. In relation to other clubs and "entertainment" in general. £13.70 is not a lot of money for an adult in full time employment. If you went to the pictures it would probably cost more than that for the film and a bag of spice. On a night out by the time you've bought four pints of beer you won't have much change if any. Probably wouldn't get you a decent meal out and is less than the average gig ticket these days. And so on. All in all £13.70 strikes me as good value.
You still haven't explained how that is relative to this thread. But then you also didn't offer a solution to the problem of clubs not being able to afford the wages they are paying. It is what I expect from you. You peddle your shiite and then have no substance to back it up. And in answer to your (not so) clever remark, we do indeed have colour tv's, we also have silly wages for footballers and extortionate ticket prices to cover them.
I know you can't see it but I'll explain anyway Sky would have you believe the premiership is the best in the world, the players are gods and no other football matters. That's why so many children in our town wear man utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and arsenal shirts and don't go down to support there local team.
But to get it for the admittedly great £13.70 you have to lay out £315 minimum upfront You don't do that with the pictures for example. Some folk just can't afford that cash upfront, especially when the area is getting shafted by Maggies Boys again.
I think he was referring to a lack of interest in the local team. Which you get from Hartlepool to Torquay.
If people can't afford then they can't go. Harsh but true. There is only so much the club can do and I would be against people being allowed to spread the cost of the ST over a season.
Sky Sports fuels that because it is so easy to sit at home and watch football rather than get up and go to a real match
its all skys fault, boooooooooo sky boooooooo 10 million homes have sky alone but its the centre of evil. booooo
SO go on then, with your world wise knowledge, explain to the masses why sky sports and thie rmonopoly is good for the english game, explain why as a gentleman who understands the value of money that 12 notes is excellent value for a teenager given that its only 90 quid for a teenage season ticket at bumhole lane. Its a rhetorical question as i seriously do not expect an answer from you.
