Over the top stewards/security at football grounds

Where is the other the top stewarding? All I see is a man refusing to comply with a simple request and physically trying to stop himself being ejected resulting in the officials being forced into using stronger techniques to shift the trouble causer.

 

How the fvck can you label him a trouble causer, to me he looks like a gent who is in his mid to late 50's.

IMO 95% of stewards are on a massive power trip and they pi$$ me right off. They think they have right to speak to people like sh!te and use over the top antics but whenever you stand your ground they call on the police to mop up what they've started in the first place.

Dont get me started on this cos it makes my blood boil, football fans seem to be an easy picking for the saturday powertrip brigade and it stinks.

so what if he was standing up, he asn't killed anyone. Mug an old dear in street and get a slap on wrist, stand up and chant at a football game and get man handled and arrested.

he's causing trouble by refusing to co-operate with an instruction from the police. And standing up at matches is causing trouble as it is breaking the rules and causing trouble for people behind you.

 

Fantastic post there judith. Agree with it all. Some of the stewarding (and policing) that goes on in football grounds these days is way, way over the top. No surprise that is sometimes turns to trouble, you can't treat people like that and expect them just to accept it, especially when they are in large groups.

What is so unreasonable about asking people to sit down at football? We all know the rules, if we have no intention of abiding by them then why go to the match in the first place? People standing up in front of you can be a big problem for more people than you realise and can ruin a lot of peoples enjoyment of the game.

And is it really fair to blame the police and stewards for enforcing these rules? they don't make them up, they only enforce them. If people didn't break them then they wouldnt get ejected for standing would they? And when a police officer or steward attempts to enforce them is it really acceptable to refuse simply because you are in a crowd?

 

Sorry but your wrong. Been all over the country. Stewards are exactly that Saturday afternoon warriors who think that because they wear a bright jacket they can use it to assault and intimidate people as they see fit.
Seen them on more than one occasion specifically target young kids or the infirm who struggle to stick up for themselves. Most of the trouble I have seem recently inside grounds has come from the stewards pushing folk about for the fun of it.

 

SuperTyke a you sure your not a steward or plod? You seem a little deluded to me, men and women work there arses off wk in wk out to follow there beloved teams and sometimes the heat of the moment and the excitment does bring people to there feet.

If it wo up to you we would all be wearing pink wooly mittens and waving pom pom's and singing 'come by R'

no he's right saw a bloke at an away match once wi three kids on tow people were standing in front of em couldn't even see when they stood on seats and he could'nt lift em all up.suppose thats back to the standing debate but if its seating they should sit.agree about attitudes of some of stewards though.

 

We used to have loads of problems with Doyles mob when they 1st took over stewarding in the early/mid nineties.

They were on a power trip, could guarantee that one of our lot would be ejected at some point in the game for trying to create an atmosphere.

I was being crushed in the FA Cup replay against Plymouth back in 94 after coming back into the Ponty end for the 2nd half.

My body was literally a foot of the floor when next thing I'm being pulled out by my neck and carried out by 2 stewards and thrown outside. Safe to say I made a complaint to Spinks who investigated the matter for me and I was presented with complimentary tickets for the next 4 home games after it was proved the stewards were being heavy handed week in week out.

 

Notice how they pick an oldish bloke out of a massive crowd? Always go for easy targets like usual.

4 got thrown out at pompey at weekend for standing up, they waited until half time then got the police to help them, they said they were causing an obstruction. even thought they were sat on the back row were everyone was stood up.

The worst place i have seen for this is forrest, were an old bloke got thrown out and the police came in later to collect his walking stick.

For me, if you are stood on the back row what difference does it make you are not blocking anybodys view you are not causing any problems so why do they pick on you? they dont do it to the home fans when there is thousands of them stood up, just when there is a few hundred stood up singing.
