ie just behind a main man. i really think that would be something that could work. if he catches them right with that left foot they stay hit.
I think that instead of looking to replace like with like, ie. long range shots, why not play RNL buttell him to get INTO the box and help the striker, which is where we are lacking at the moment. In my opinion that is.
why its working, im not saying its rnl OR butterfield but i think he can do it. i agree we need to get more balls in to the box and thats another reason im hopeing rnl will be back soon.
Its not working everytime though. If Butterfield does not score then we struggle. Long range shooting is surely not the best we can hope for FFS!
Yes, I agree Phil. Remember what the management said about 'layering', one goes out, and another steps up. And having spoke with them, both he and his parents see him as a more central force eventually. I dont see him as a winger as such or a lone striker. He has the agility and quick feet for the Butterfield role, and if anything, a better shot on him than Jacob. If only either of em had the pace of Matty Done, there would be bigger clubs than Soton and Fulham circling. Thats what will put the real top clubs off Butts I feel, he has no 2nd gear. Spanish technique though, and great with both feet. A rarity in itself for an English player.
We didn't have a keep em at all costs policy even in the 96/97 season weve always been a selling club, 97/98 apart.weve always got the best out of what we had, brought youngsters through or shopped for bargains,(hendrie, redfearn, barnard, dezeeuw, ward) etc. We survived the sales of mcarthy, beresford, taggert and agnew etc we,ll survive others in the future if that means butters so be it as far as i'm concerned.theres no loyalty in football when a club comes waving a wad of spondooliks in players faces.
