Very moving, very powerful. When the truth comes out, hopefully the families of the 96 will see justice. No more cover ups, no more misinformation, no more lies, no more excuses for dereliction of duty and responsibility.

I didn't know that about the safety certificate either. I think page 3 is very interesting when it goes into detail about how many fans were in the ground by 2.30 and also that the total number of fans in the end was between 9,373 and 10,124. This dispels quite afew myths some led us to believe at the time.

The subject had to be politicised or what has happened today would have stayed firmly swept under the carpet

If anyone is showing disrespect it is you who is showing it.

This is very much political and perhaps the 96 will rest in peace and their loved ones can have closure when all the lies, coverups, shortcomings of those in charge are officially uncovered.
Stop trying to hide behind the 96 poor souls. it doesnt matter who controlled the south yorkshire panel the lies, inaccuracies etc were allowed to be reported along with poor attempts to justify them.

Re: Policing broke down, not end of, Typical Tory cover up.

What's a massive assumption? I would add that I wrote my undergrad dissertation on the political causes of the Hillsboro disaster. I'm not saying that means my viewpoint is necessarily correct but I am not making assumptions.

And as I've said earlier, there's only you in thus thread who is being disrespectful to the victims.

Justice For The 96 = totally absolving all scouses from blame.

Four years - two disasters. There was nearly a repeat of Heysel in 2007. They will never learn but will always protest their innocence.

Tyrone's spot on, this isn't about politics and as for the suggestion it was a tory cover up......give me strength. If there were any political considerations in this case (in terms of being reluctant to fully disclose) they were probably aimed at protecting SYP from too much direct criticism because, you know what, the sad fact is that if those ticketless Liverpool fans hadn't turned up in their hundreds (thousands?) shoving to get in, there would likely have been no problem for the police to manage, and therefore no loss of life.

This has always been as much about finding an Authority-figure scapegoat and dodging personal/peer group responsibility as it ever has been a quest for the truth.

I'm sorry but failing to listen to what the victims are asking for is disrepectful to them. Why would you want to deny them what they want?

I suggest many of you read HILLSBOROUGH: THE TRUTH by Prof Phil Scraton

Never mind what you feel about Liverpool, Labour, the Tories or The Sun, what the families of the dead had to suffer in the 24-48 hours at the hands of SYP during the identification of their sons, daughters, fathers and grandfathers and then the brutal, accusatory questioning they had to go through just minutes after being given the briefest glimpse of their dead loved ones should never be suffered by anyone.

It will be interesting to see how many people don't read this and go on to repeat...

The myths that this mp as has set out to prove are simply untrue.

Personally I wouldn't compare what went on at Heysel to Hillsborough. I would blame what happened at Heysel on the fans but I think Hillsborough is a totally different matter

Tyrone, you take massive offence at being accused of showing disrespect to the 96, yet are only too quick to accuse others of this. Your 'let sleeping dogs lie' post earlier in this thread displays about as much disrespect to the 96 and their families as could possibly be shown.

Good point. Some are already doing so in this thread. No one has taken notice of the ticket allocation and the amount of fans in the ground. As I said before that dispels the biggest myth. Blood testing a 10 year old boy for alcohol, had they reached such a desperate point they were testing anyone in the hope they would be found positive for alcohol so they could put it down to drunken hooligans at football

I've got that book very good read. I think the Jimmy McGovern docudrama covered alot of the facts from that book

The police tried to find blame against them when they were laid dead by testing them for alcohol, this included a 10 year old boy
