Thinking of going on the train on Friday, but was unsure what time the concert would finish. So I emailed the venue, and they said it would be finished by 10pm. That seemed a little early to me, but if true then that's brilliant because I can still get the last train home. Would this be a realistic time for it to finish do you think? Or are they underestimating it?
I've been to see a Stone Roses tribute band there before. Can't remember what time it finished but can remember it was fecking freezing so my advice is take a coat
Been to quite a few (say 10 or so) and it depends on (a) what curfew they have and (b) who's playing. Of the ones i can recall checking my watch the main act got on stage ~9-9.15 and it was typically about an hour after that it was finshed, so out by 10.30 latest.
They have a club night every Friday called Propaganda that starts about half ten - that's ticketed seperately so they'll have to clear the band off etc before that so guessing you'll be fine.
Thanks very much you two. So i'll take a coat - does thi salso double up as a **** jacket, because i've heard they throw cups of it about there. Dreading it in a way because of that. Well the last train is at 10.41 so should be able to make that one then. If it is done by 10 though maybe I could somehow manage to catch the 10.06 train, if it's a touch late.
They usually finish up about 10-10.30 because a club night starts straight after so they're keen to finish on schedule.
Never been covered in p**s at a concert in the O2, I suspect that's a myth. Don't let a fear of that spoil your gigging experience. Who you seeing?
In fact, cheers for posting this. Just been on website and seen Shed Seven are laiking there soon. Probably get some tickets.
Aw thats nice to know about the lack of pyss. Got to say I was definitely worried. Going to see Bowling For Soup mate. Saw them at the Octagon a few years ago and they're still one of the best bands i've ever seen, if not the best. Just not sure what to expect from the venue. Glad it's close to the train station though. @Dyson - no probs mate. Shed Seven are really good live, saw them well before they split up, brilliant concert, also at the Octagon.
Used to go to loads of gigs in the 80's at Sheffield City Hall and have to leave at the encore to leg it down to the station for the last bus!
Often laid in wait for us.....once pulling a knife on us. Coppers told us they knew that they used to get bus loads in when there was a metal gig on!
Yep, a 10 pm finish sound about right. I saw the Stranglers there last year. The beer is crap and the parking charges are extortionate. My missus wasn't very well so we were only parked up about 2 hours and got charged over £7.
Molly Hatchet in December, but i hate the Academy set up particularly at weekends when bands have to be off stage at 10pm. a few years ago I saw Blue Oyster Cult at Newcastle Academy ,they came on late due to illness ,only played 45 minutes before they were kicked off. The days when BOC were allowed to play 4 hours at Manchester Free Trade Hall going off stage at 1 am just because they felt like it,have long gone.
I have. Courteeners a few years back. Absolutely covered in it. A taxi driver kicked us out of his taxi because we stunk that bad. If you stay out the way of the "mosh pit" you'll stay urine free . . . .
Been chased all over the multi-storey car park by Ponds Forge. By the old escalators was a favourite. Once cornered and whipped by 'em with a bog chain. Still had the porcelain handle on as well. very painful!
